Part 3.

Last week we also invested in some dexterity and cognitive puzzles. We sourced these from dementia/alzheimer providers, so that residents can retain motor skills with age appropriate resources.

Part 2 last week.

Although the activities is very often about having fun, we are also about wellbeing.

With this in mind we did a presentstion and quiz about the importance of fluids and questionnaire. We also did another 3 activities based around fluid intake to.try and encourage our residents to drink more: Tea tasting, exotic fruit tasting and cocktail making.

From the questionnaire we will be introducing a few new flavours and drinks in the coming weeks.

We have had lots of activities this week so I will do this weekly round up in 2 parts

Part 1.

Burns Night/Highland Week.

We have had Highland Games Caber Tossing, Tug of War etc, a Highland Singalong on Wednesday followed by a Scottish Folk Band last night. The residents also sampled some Highland food Scottish salmon blinis and some shortbread.

Music Therapy at it's absolute finest.

Singing, dancing, playing wooden and metal spoons, tambourines, conga lines and generally having a hootenanny.

Burns Night, thank you Stewart Brothers for giving your time so generously.

This was one of many conga lines we had going with the band included.

I'm not sure who enjoyed this more, our staff or residents. The home had a wonderful atmosphere which is great for morale and in turn great for residents.

Another fun week including a resident's mini activity meeting. The good news, the residents like all the current activities. Also hairdressers, nails, facials, winter hedgehog making, home duties (laundry day) films, music, baking, baby visits, balloon tennis, knitting and the activity cart doing the rounds.

Fun fact a group of hedgehogs is called a prickle of hedgehogs. Please see our pics of our prickle of hogs!

Next weeks activities.

Little update.

We have had a lovely day welcoming in the New Year Welsh style. Residents called the mare Blodwyn (meaning white flower).

Lots of residents had room visits to bring good luck and then we sang Welsh songs and had Poetry with Welsh Teatime treats.

Bless Jeff who sang several songs in Welsh today, well done

We also raised £195.00 with our Xmas raffle/tombola. This money will go towards a falconry display and a Scottish pipe/drum band. Thankyou for your donations and for buying tickets. We all appreciate the amazing family and friends support.
