Baird Optometrists is an independent opticians with practices on Callander Main Street and Dunblane High Street. Andrew Baird was brought up in North Wales before attending Cardiff University where he gained a degree with honours in Optometry before going on to pass his professional examinations in 2000, becoming a member of the College of Optometrists. Since qualification, Andrew has worked in ci

ty centre practices and smaller independent practices. In 2003, Andrew married Fiona and the following year moved to Scotland. In 2011, Andrew Baird Optometrist opened in Callander. Initially, the practice opened only 3 days per week but due to great local support, it soon became possible to open 5 days. Fiona Baird (nee Kenny) grew up in Dunblane, attending Dunblane High School before studying optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University. After also passing her professional examinations in 2000, Fiona has spent the past 20 years balancing a successful career in Optometry with being a hard working Mum. In October 2020, Baird Optometrists opened on Dunblane High Street. With the latest optometric technology and a desire to provide the best in customer service, Fiona, Andrew and their team look forward to welcoming new patients for years to come. The practice stocks a wide range of frames from budget to designers including Oakley, RayBan, Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, Ted Baker, Bolle and more. We also offer the latest HOYA lenses.

Whether you've tried contact lenses previously or you're new to the idea, at Baird Optometrists, we'll guide you seamlessly through the fitting process :

Stage 1 : Initial consultation where our optometrists will discuss your visual needs and help to decide on the best contact lens option. You will have the opportunity to try lenses and realise how much more comfortable they are than you expected!

Stage 2 : Contact lens handling teaching session where an experienced member of our team will show you the best techniques for inserting and removing your new lenses. They will also discuss the care procedures and ensure you have the opportunity to ask any questions.

Stage 3 : Trial period and follow up where you can take lenses away and see how they fit in to your lifestyle. Then we will review you in the practice to check that your eyes are as comfortable with the lenses as you are.

Stage 4 : The fit is complete and you are welcome to order lenses. We offer direct debit options which cover lenses, solutions and aftercare services. Alternatively, you can pay-as-you-go.

What a great day at team training today!

Fiona gave a fantastic presentation on the new Community Glaucoma Service. We are proud to have two of the first practices in Forth Valley to provide clinics which, for some patients will keep glaucoma care in the community.

We welcomed Lisa from Glaucoma UK to speak to the team about the support and services that they can provide to both ourselves and glaucoma patients.

Michele from Hoya Lens UK joined us to discuss the latest varifocal to their offerings, the MySelf Profile, a lens which uses advanced lens technology to create the most comfortable visual experience at all distances.

Andrew discussed the new specialist supplementary service provided by our three independent prescribing optometrists. This enables us to provide treatment for 10 acute anterior eye conditions that may otherwise end up in Hospital Eye Services.

Optometry marches on at a fast pace but at Baird Optometrists, you can be sure that we are keeping up to date!
