Tamar Valley Osteopathy

Tamar Valley Osteopathy Women’s Health Osteopath helping you move out of pain and back to what you love. What are Osteopaths? What do Osteopaths do?

Blending psychology and physiology with hands-on treatment, education and rehab. Specialist in pregnancy & postnatal care, pregnancy massage, Mummy MOT® and hypnobirthing. Osteopaths are highly trained healthcare professionals, who are experts in the musculoskeletal system (muscles, bones and associated tissues). Osteopaths are recognised as an allied health profession by NHS England. In the UK, O

steopathy is a health profession regulated by UK law. Only those who are registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) are allowed to practise as or call themselves an Osteopath. To become an Osteopath, one must undertake specialist degree-level training, either a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or integrated Masters (MOst), plus complete over 1000 hours of clinical placement (Direct patient contact time). This takes a minimum of 4 years to complete

To maintain registration with GOsC, which is renewed annually, Osteopaths must meet mandatory continuous professional development (CPD): keeping skills and knowledge up-to-date and maintaining high standards of professional development. Osteopaths believe in the 4 principles, these are:
The body is a unit; a person is a unit of body, mind, and spirit. The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing, and health maintenance. Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated. Osteopaths will use a wide variety of gentle hands-on techniques that focus on releasing the tension within the soft tissues, improving mobility and optimising function, as well as providing useful health advice and exercise if required. All treatment is based upon an understanding of the basic principles of body unity, self-regulation, and the interrelationship of structure and function. They will also work with, or refer you to, other healthcare professionals as needed to ensure you receive optimum care. Osteopaths take the time to understand each patient – your unique combination of symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. This helps to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your issue, (not just addressing the site of discomfort), and formulate a treatment plan with you that will achieve the best outcome.

Hi, I’m Antonia — your local Women’s Health Osteopath & Mummy MOT Practitioner

I support women through pregnancy, birth preparation, postnatal recovery, and beyond with whole-person, hands-on care that helps you feel strong, confident, and more like you again.

Whether you’re newly pregnant, 6 weeks postpartum, or further along — if something doesn’t feel quite right in your body, I’m here to help you reconnect, recover, and move forward with confidence.

My approach is always hands-on, whole-body and individual to you.

This can include:
✨ Manual therapy to ease pain and improve movement
✨ Exercise and movement rehab to support strength and recovery
✨ Education so you actually understand what’s going on in your body
✨ Nervous system support — helping your body feel safe and supported

I commonly support women with:

✨ Back, hip and pelvic pain in pregnancy
✨ Pelvic girdle pain (PGP)
✨ Rib and postural discomfort
✨postnatal recovery (including after C-section)
✨Scar-related tightness and restriction
✨Pelvic floor dysfunction
✨ Persistent aches that “just haven’t gone away”
✨ And much more

Here’s how I support women locally:

✨ Pregnancy & Postpartum Osteopathy
Hands-on treatment + movement support to help your body adapt and recover

✨ Pregnancy Massage
Time to properly switch off, relax and ease physical tension

✨ Mummy MOT
A full-body postnatal assessment — looking at your pelvic floor, core, scar healing, posture and movement

✨ 1:1 Birth Preparation Sessions
Helping you understand your body, birth and feel more confident going into it

And beyond the clinic, I also offer:

🎙️ A C-section is major abdominal surgery, however most women are only given surface-level recovery advice🎙️

Proper education is needed to help mothers understand what has happened during their C-section and what to expect from the healing process, from there they are then better equipped to support themselves and their recovery with a whole body, whole person mindset!

This is exactly why The Mummy MOT assessment is such an incredible service to offer new mums, as it empowers women with the knowledge & advice to truly support a happy & health postpartum recovery journey 🙌🏼💪🏼

And guess what... It's never too late!!
So whether you are 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years + deep in your postpartum journey, a Mummy MOT will always be available to you 💜

April is C-section Awareness Month 🤍

And here’s the truth:
We’ve done a great job at preparing women for one type of birth…
and overlooked a huge percentage of others.

As a C- section mum myself, I get it. And I'm sick of seeing mums who have given birth via a C section think they have somehow 'failed' at birth and shouldn't feel proud of it!

This needs to stop. Now.

Birth is birth!

And C-section birth still deserves to be preparated for too.

Because

Your body still responds.
Your nervous system still matters.
Your recovery still matters.

✨ If you want a different approach to birth prep

You’re doing everything to prepare for birth…
But if your body still feels tense, unsure, or overwhelmed

that’s not something to ignore.
Because birth prep isn’t just about what you do.
It’s about how your body feels.

March Moments 🌸💜

March has easily been my favourite month of 2026 so far.
It’s been full on in the best way…

From delivering local expert talks, a fully booked clinic diary, and sharing what I do at a local bump & baby fair — to some pretty special personal moments too.
Taking on (and winning 😜) a local charity fitness evey with the best team, running 10 miles with my running bestie, and soaking up all the gorgeous sunshine we've had with my babies ☀️

Feeling really grateful for this season of life that I'm in 💜

Now it’s April’s turn…
(and we’re kicking it off with a 2-week trip to France 🙌🏼🫶🏼)
