Battling On

Battling On Supporting the Armed Forces Community since 2012.

The courage and devotion of our forces are recognised, without a doubt, however, it has also been recognised that some service personnel find it difficult to settle back into civilian life after leaving the forces. Battling On was established to support members of the British Armed Forces who have retired from the services and are struggling to readjust to civilian life.

Great news! Battling On will be opening a new weekly session in Saltash!

These sessions will take place in Oaklands Community Centre, PL12 4EZ, nearby the fire station.

We welcome all from the Armed Forces Community, including serving personnel, families, and veterans. As we proceed, we'll be hosting guest speakers and activities, as well as providing Battling On's bespoke support, covering community engagement, employment, and benefits assistance, among other things...

For the first session, we'll be joined by Stefan Daniel of Warrior Within UK:
"For anyone seeking routine, resilience, and real transformation, I combine physical training with proven mindset tools to help you lead with strength in every area of life."

One of the greatest qualities of the Armed Forces Community is that they look after their own. This sense of inherent camaraderie becomes even stronger when considering those who fell during conflict.

This is why we joined forces with Pinnacle Service Families in August to clean up two war graves near Torpoint. Cliff and Paula from Pinnacle were joined by Brian and Nigel, two Battling On Veterans and, despite the grey skies, did some excellent work in cleaning up the graves of two RAF air crew who died off Plymouth Sound during World War II.

The graves had looked quite neglected in a far corner of the cemetary, and so were located during a scouting period when we were planning the project. By the end, we’d scrubbed down the headstones, dug away the weeds, and laid new stones and borders to really smarten them up.

We’re proud of the work we did to honour the two servicemen who fell. Hopefully, we’ll be doing more in the future, and you’re more than welcome to join us!
