As the last day of term approaches, we would like to wish all our pupils and their parents and guardians a very Merry Christmas.

Our pupils have been busy creating the most amazing Christmas decorations. Their creativity, focus and festive spirit have filled our provision with joy and colour. We’re so proud of the beautiful work they’ve produced!

Crafting offers so many benefits for our pupils. It helps build fine motor skills, supports sensory regulation, encourages communication, and boosts focus and confidence.
It also gives children a creative outlet to express themselves and develop social skills while having fun! 💙

🎄✨ 𝑨 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒆 𝑺𝒌𝒚 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒖𝒑𝒊𝒍𝒔! ✨🎄

Our pupils enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Christmas displays — full of twinkling lights, festive decorations, and lots of wonderful animals! 🦌🐑🐇

The children were all smiles as they explored, laughed, and learnt. It was lovely to see their confidence grow, and their excitement shine throughout the day.
Moments like these remind us how important joy, curiosity, and shared experiences are for wellbeing.

Meet Lynzi — our Level 3 Forest School Practitioner, Level 5 Thrive Practitioner, and Early Years graduate! 🌿📚
Before joining BSL, Lynzi worked as a Pre-School Manager, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to our team.
She’s always smiling, full of joy!

Our student did a brilliant job keeping a secure grip on Luna’s lead, making sure she stayed safe and well away from the road.
Such a calm, responsible approach — well done! 👏

In our Alternative Provision, our Therapy Dog Scheme helps create a nurturing environment where young people can:

The joy of Christmas has arrived early at BSL, with gifts and festive food bringing warmth and smiles to our community.

As we prepare for Christmas, I want to take a moment to thank each one of you for your incredible hard work, the smiles you bring to our classrooms, and the care you show in helping our young people face and overcome their challenges.
The impact you have on their lives is truly profound, even if you don’t always see it day to day.

I wish you all a calm, joyful Christmas and a very well-deserved break. May it be filled with rest, laughter, and special moments with the people who matter most.
Here’s to a bright and positive new year ahead for us all.

Buying gifts can feel tricky—what looks “fun” might be too loud, scratchy or overwhelming.
And what seems “small” to others can be a BIG comfort.

If you’re stuck, here are a few ideas to try: weighted lap pad/blanket, hoodie blanket, sensory bottle or bubble timer, gentle fidgets, chewable jewellery, noise-reducing headphones, a pop-up den, or a projector night light. 😊🎄

Choose what helps your child feel safe, settled and happy—there’s no one-size-fits-all.
You know your child best!

At Blue Sky Learning, we know that positive relationships are at the heart of every success.

She delivers LEGO®-based therapy sessions, making it easier for young people to practise communication, teamwork and social skills in a fun and meaningful way. 💙

We know how difficult after school can be for children with SEN — and for parents and carers supporting them at home. 💙
When a child has used up their energy coping through the day, emotions can surface quickly once they’re back in a safe place.

That’s why we’re sharing a few gentle, practical strategies that may help with emotional balance after school:

✅ Start with a low-demand transition (10–20 minutes of calm time)
✅ Snack + drink first (hunger and thirst can increase overwhelm)
✅ Offer a quiet activity (a book, drawing, sensory play, headphones)
✅ Give simple choices to reduce pressure (“Would you like a break or a short walk?”)
✅ Acknowledge feelings calmly (“I can see today has been a lot.”)

Every child is different — and what helps may change day to day.
The key is consistency, reassurance, and taking things one small step at a time.

🍂🌿 𝐀 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 🌿🍂

We enjoyed a wonderful Forest School session on a crisp day outdoors—exploring puddles, investigating frozen water, and noticing how nature changes in colder weather.
There was lots of curiosity, laughter and hands-on learning throughout the morning.

To finish, we gathered together to toast marshmallows, shared a warm moment around the fire and celebrated a great session. 🔥✨
