Today we recognise World Down Syndrome Day, a day to celebrate inclusion, understanding, and the unique strengths of people with Down syndrome.

At Blue Sky Learning, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Inclusive education helps students build confidence, friendships, and life skills, ensuring everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.

🌱 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑷𝑺𝑯𝑬

In our recent PSHE session, student explored the importance of online safety, media awareness, and making safe choices.

We began with an imagination activity, encouraging students to visualise everyday objects and situations.
This helped develop focus, communication, and creative thinking.

Student then looked at film images and BBFC age rating symbols, discussing what each rating means and why age guidance is important.
This led to a great conversation about making safe choices when watching films and online content.

We also talked about what to do if something online or on screen feels upsetting, reinforcing the importance of speaking to a trusted adult.

🌟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🌟

Did you know students at our provision can earn the Headteacher’s Award for their achievements and positive behaviour?

One of our students received the Headteacher’s Award after earning 20 gems on the Gem Tree! 💎🌳

The final gem was awarded for showing great resilience in maths, demonstrating determination and a positive attitude towards learning.

The student had the opportunity to visit the Headteacher, receive a certificate, and choose a reward from the prize box.

Next week we’re inviting all children to wear odd socks to help raise awareness and celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness.

Wearing odd socks is a fun way to show that being different is something to be proud of. It helps children learn about kindness, inclusion, and celebrate everyone’s unique strengths.

Putting the plane together isn’t just about building a model.

Paula is our creative specialist for experiments and special effects, bringing curiosity and excitement into learning at Blue Sky Learning.

She loves exploring hands-on experiments and unusual ways of discovering how things work, helping pupils learn through curiosity, creativity and play.

Paula is always ready to try something new, encouraging pupils to ask questions, investigate and think differently.

For many primary-aged children with SEMH needs, mainstream classrooms can feel overwhelming.

Research in child development and trauma-informed education highlights that overstimulation — noise, unpredictable transitions, crowded environments — can increase anxiety and trigger dysregulation.

At Blue Sky Learning, we reduce overstimulation by:

✔ Creating predictable daily routines
✔ Limiting sensory overload
✔ Offering calm, structured spaces
✔ Using practical, hands-on learning

When overstimulation is reduced, we often see:
