Last year we conducted the funerals for two of the boys that sadly lost their lives in the Derry Hill car accident. Kerry, Ryan’s mum has made us aware of a sponsored walk being organised for May. The funds raised will go towards a memorial garden where the boys friends and families can go and remember them. Alongside Kerry and many others our funeral directors Charlotte and Samantha will be taking part!! If you want to donate or sponsor us please message us. Every penny will help create a beautiful space where the boys memories will live on 💛💙❤️💕 🕊 🌸 🌺

There is a myth that you 'get over' grief. That you 'move on'. You don't. You move forward with your grief, but many people may be affected by a bereavement throughout their whole life. This is the time when the bereaved most need support, when they feel alone and isolated. Grief is an intensely personal experience and each person will react to a death in different ways. If you know someone who is going through a bereavement, give them a call and see how you can support them at this difficult time. www.prospect-hospice.net/covid-19-bereavement-support/

We want to wish Ricki a happy birthday and give him some much deserved recognition! He works endlessly to ensure all families and loved ones are looked after with the utmost care and respect, always going above and beyond. We think he definitely deserves a sit down with some coffee and cake today 🙂🙃🥳

There are so many different ways to remember someone and so many different keepsakes. Some people like to keep their loved one close and choose to have jewellery incorporating their loved ones ashes. We work with some brilliant caring companies that can provide this and most recently we have started working with companies that can do fingerprint keepsakes. You can even add engraving to make it that extra bit more personal.

You may know Ricki the owner of Johnson and Daltrey and funeral directors Charlotte and Samantha. But we would like to give recognition and say thank you to our amazing pall bearers. They are always there on the day of a funeral for us and for our families we look after. Always presented beautifully and we are so grateful to have them as part of our team! They are all local and well known so for many folk there is a familiar face. Thank you gentlemen! (Pictured Martyn, Dave, Nigel, David)

The first of four funerals held for the victims of the fatal road traffic collision in Derry Hill last month will take place this week.

Ryan Nelson's funeral will be held on Friday afternoon (18/09) and his family have arranged for the funeral cortege to drive through Calne to allow people to pay their respects.

It will pass by Calne Town Hall at 2pm and will drive towards Tesco, where Ryan worked, via the bypass.

If members of the public wish to pay their final respects as the cortege drives past, his family have urged people to ensure they are adhering to social distancing and do not gather in groups of more than six.

There will be a celebration of Ryan's life after the service, but this is by invitation only to ensure it can be held safely at a Covid-secure venue.

If anyone would like to make donations in Ryan's memory, his family have chosen Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and these can be given c/o Johnson and Daltrey Independent Funeral Directors, in Calne, and they can be contacted on 01249 821200.

Inspector James Brain, from the Chippenham Area Community Policing Team, said the police and the local authority had been working closely with the family to allow them to celebrate Ryan's life in as safe a way as possible.

He said: "We completely understand that those who knew and loved Ryan want to be able to come together to remember him and pay their last respects.

"However, his family have made it clear that they want to be able to do this in a safe way, which does not pose a risk to public health.

"The town will see four funerals over the coming weeks, and I know this period of mourning will be very difficult for those having to say goodbye to much-loved sons, brothers and friends.

"However, the last thing anyone wants is for this to lead to an outbreak of Covid19 in the town, so I would urge everyone - particularly young people in Calne - to be mindful of social distancing and the current Government restrictions."

Terence Herbert, Chief Executive, Wiltshire Council, said: "This is a devastating time for those involved and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the four young men who lost their lives in this tragic accident.

"Understandably the family and friends of Corey, Jordan, Matthew, and Ryan want to celebrate their lives. We are working closely with colleagues at the police to support them to do so safely and within the latest Government legislation.

"These are unprecedented times and we understand this is difficult for those grieving loved ones."

North Wiltshire Crematorium have asked us to help them let you all know about their current competition! 2020 has been a strange and challenging year but also devastating for so many. Lives were lost to coronavirus and a lot of people made sacrifices working hard in the fight against the virus- Westerleigh Crematoria are designing and building memorial gardens where these people can be recognised, remembered and respected.

Each garden will have a rainbow flower bed with a monument in the middle. This is where you guys come in! The crematorium would like you to create a design that can be carved on to the monument. Something creative but simple enough for the stone mason to carve. There will be 7 different designs chosen for each Westerleigh owned crematorium in the country.

Anyone can enter! Just create your design on A4 paper and email to designcomp@westerleighgroup.co.uk or post to Design Comp, Westerleigh Group, Westerleigh Road, Westerleigh, Bristol BS37 8QP. Alternatively you can pop it into any of our branches in Royal Wootton Bassett, Calne or Malmesbury. Don’t forget to put your name, address and telephone number with your entry.

The closing date for the competition is 31st October 2020. The gardens hope to be completed in Spring 2021 with the winner also having their name on a plaque at the garden.
