The one thing that always resets me is a morning walk and if there’s a beautiful sunrise that’s an added bonus, not just for my mood but also for circadian rhythms and nervous system regulation 😊 better sleep and hormone balance support) 🤍 Noticing the leaves changing colour as we move into autumn here in the UK also feels very grounding at the start of the day. This morning was gorgeous on my favourite walk ✨

How do you prepare for the week ahead?

Wishing you a lovely week, remember to pace yourself. Slow and steady always brings rewards X

I always feel like the start of October is bittersweet. Saying farewell to the long warm summer days but welcoming the vibrant colours and soft light of early autumn, one of the most beautiful times of the year 🍁🧡

The shorter evenings are an invitation to slow down, I’m really enjoying the cosy moments and looking forward to the leaves changing with their rich reds, browns and oranges. I’m also looking forward to work starting on my wellness space this month, hooray! 🍁

October is a month symbolising peace, harmony and balance so let’s hope it brings just that 🤍 What steps will you be taking to enjoy these aspects of October?

Sunday sunset, what a treat ☀️

I always try to plan a walk after I’ve been travelling as sitting for long stretches of time can spike my pelvic & joint pain. After the most lovely weekend away meeting up with friends from university (something I couldn’t have contemplated doing a few years ago when my endo symptoms ramped up & while I was recovering from excision surgery & my hysterectomy), coming home to this sunset was the icing on the cake 💕

How do you decompress after travelling (& Sunday train stress!) & reset ready for the week ahead?

Wishing you a lovely week 🧡🍁

Welcoming Autumn with a dedication to beautiful Arran from our visit earlier this month & embracing the cosyness now we’ve had the first frosts here in the Peak District ❄️

I hope you had a restorative summer 🧡 I took longer away from posting here than planned & it’s felt nourishing 🌱 Also my wellness offerings are on hold atm as work on my treatment & coaching space has unfortunately been delayed. All being well my reflexology treatments & health coaching will be available this winter on Mondays/Tuesdays. I can’t wait! Watch this space for updates✨✨✨

Managing my endo, SIBO & surgical menopause still consume energy & head space. I’ve been re-testing for SIBO & following a recent osteopenia diagnosis I’m now navigating more changes to support bone density & gut health. It’s a reminder that while hysterectomy can bring relief from endo (where other options have been exhausted) it’s not a cure & there’s still so much more knowledge needed about the whole body nature of endo, it’s co-conditions & women’s health more generally.

Walking in the hills is still my place for re-charging, finding peace from all that’s happening in the world atm & making peace with my health challenges. Regular movement & strength work are so important for bone health too - movement really is medicine!

I hope this gives you some inspiration to connect with your favourite strategies for supporting your wellness. What will you prioritise this weekend? 🤍

Sending love & autumn light 🧡

Warm skies to start the week 🧡

There have been some beautifully serene sunsets recently. It’s felt soothing to soak up the last ounces of sunshine at the end of the day, and a lovely way to start to prepare for sleep. Noticing what’s changing in the landscape like the early heather and abundance of fruit and brambles has been calming too.

August represents the bridge between summer and autumn, offering an opportunity to enjoy the longer days while starting to prepare for the new beginnings of the new season. With this in mind I’m taking a little break from posting here for the next couple of weeks to slow down, take some (digital) rest and recharge - practicing my own advice 🤍

I’ll still be posting stories and checking / replying to messages so if you have questions about my women’s health coaching specialising in endometriosis and menopause, available from September, or my other holistic health offerings I’d love to hear from you. You can also find more on my website - link in my bio 🤍

How are you planning to pause and recharge this month? Do you find it difficult to slow down? 🧡

Sending love and wishing you a restorative August x

Warm words for this week 💚

Celebrating the simplicity of summer walks in nature, noticing what’s blossoming, breathing in the pollen laden air and taking in the awe inspiring beauty and vast skies. Even in the rain and under moody skies it’s still full of beauty 💚

I’m more prone to joint & muscular pain since my hysterectomy meaning gentle movement like walking often feels more accessible than the high impact movement I used to love. Walking in nature also gave me the space I needed to start healing & moving forwards from my endo surgery & hysterectomy. Having endo can stop you in your tracks especially when a flare takes over, making movement out of the question, so I’m always grateful for each walk in the hills or stroll outside - it doesn’t have to always be a long hike, some days just 5 or 10 minutes might be all that’s available & that’s ok 💚

Affirmations aren’t about underplaying our challenges at any given time but they can help to focus on the present moment providing us with a tool for finding micro moments of joy (glimmers) which can support us to deflect negative thought patterns and slow down racing thoughts. I hope you can find some glimmers this week 💗

What actually is low FODMAP?

I’ve been asked this a lot recently and I was asking the same question myself earlier this year when I started my SIBO protocols.

Low FODMAP diets have been shown to provide relief for gastrointestinal symptoms associated with endo*. It’s not a silver bullet solution to these digestive symptoms and dietary changes should always be considered alongside other supporting interventions for symptom management, which may involve surgery, lifestyle changes and nervous system regulation.

I’m always careful when talking about dietary changes and endo as we need to highlight that there is still no cure for endo and making nutritional changes only addresses certain endo symptoms and does not reduce disease progression.

Following a lower FODMAP diet since March this year has definitely helped my SIBO symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating and pelvic discomfort which came as a relief - these are symptoms I’d lived with for years and they were attributed to ‘just being part of having endo’ during my diagnosis 5 years ago.

There are so many different and sometimes conflicting FODMAP definitions which can make it feel overwhelming to navigate. If you know you have SIBO I’d recommend working with an experienced nutritionist. Health coaching can then help hand in hand by supporting you to implement and sustain any nutritional or lifestyle changes. We don’t have to keep putting up with ongoing symptoms that we end up normalising 💗💗💗

Soul food to start the week 💚

With the recent hot humid weather here in the UK my energy levels have dipped and I’m hearing the same from lots of other people too. Last week was a busy one for me and over the weekend I ordinarily would’ve planned some long walks but the rain and thunder storms had different plans and this encouraged me to slow down. This was exactly what I needed and it reminded me that time spent resting is never wasted as it helps us to supercharge, allowing our body and mind to focus on what we’re needing in that moment, which could be addressing inflammation, elevated stress/cortisol levels, chronic fatigue or pain.

Rest doesn’t need to mean a long sleep during the day (though it can do if that’s what’s needed!) but could look like:
🌱10 minutes outside in the morning
🌱a morning cuppa by a window
🌱20 minutes in nature
🌱a short walk or gentle yoga or Pilates
🌱reading a book or journalling
🌱screen free time
🌱speaking to a trusted friend

With the rain and thunder forecast here in the UK this week this might be your invitation to plan some summer hibernation if you’re feeling the need to recharge. If it feels difficult to find the time to pause and recharge let’s chat about how my women’s health coaching could help you take these steps in manageable, achievable ways 💚

Affirmations aren’t about underplaying our challenges at any given time but they can help to focus on the present moment providing us with a tool for finding micro moments of joy (glimmers) which can support us to deflect negative thought patterns and slow down racing thoughts. I hope you can find some glimmers this week 💗

A thank you to my gorgeous Guisborough reflexology clients 🤍🤍🤍

Since we moved back to the Peak District last October it’s been wonderful to see clients in Guisborough for my monthly clinics and many have been enjoying reflexology with me since I started my training. For some it was an introduction to reflexology and I’m so pleased I could share the benefits of reflexology which are always unique and profound on a physical and emotional level. I love how reflexology can often provide a first step in shifting our perspective on our health and wellness, providing a new lens - often helping us to take other steps in support of our wellness and nervous system regulation 💗

As I navigate my new routine in the Peak District I’ve been reviewing my current wellbeing offerings - this has been difficult and taking my own advice about keeping things in Balance doesn’t always come easily! I’m hoping to offer occasional clinics in Guisborough and I will keep you updated about these. I’m delighted that some clients are hoping to combine their travels or holidays with a visit to my holistic treatment space in the Peak District when it’s ready too! 🤍🤍🤍

So for now I wanted to say thank you, sharing reflexology with you has been magic and I’m eternally grateful for the support you have extended to me for my wellbeing ventures and personally. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the next chapter and continuing to support your wellbeing in new ways 💕

My favourite go to steps for navigating hospital and medical appointments with nervous system support 💗

I’ve lost count of how many hospital and Dr’s appointments I’ve had since my endo diagnosis 6 years ago and however many I’ve had I still feel that bubbling sense of anxiety deep in my stomach before each appointment.

Yesterday I had my 6 month review with my gynaecologist and that feeling set in the night before. But here are the steps I took to help regulate my nervous system and calm the anxiety and I’m sharing here in case you get that feeling too:

💕having a nutritious well balanced meal the night before with plenty of gut loving fresh salads/vegetables and protein (we had baked salmon)
💕spending some time outside before setting off for the hospital, it was an early appointment so just some time in the garden was enough 💚
💕applying my Balance essential oil blend to my pulse points on my wrists and breathing it in deeply
💕taking 3 full breaths in and out, extending the exhalation each time to activate the vagus nerve
💕leaving plenty of time for the journey so I could have a little walk outside before I went in
💕hand reflexology - working my adrenal reflex while in the waiting room
💕visualising being in one of my favourite places - usually on a walk or watching a sunrise or sunset ⛰️

How do you prepare for your appointments? If this is something that feels daunting, I can help you prepare so that you can make the most of your appointments with my health coaching specialising in endo and menopause - available from this September. If you’d like to find out more I’d love to hear from you 🌱

Soul food for this week 💗

Movement has always been important to me but it took on a whole new level of significance after my excision surgery for endo over 5 years ago. Walking became the focal point for supporting my physical & emotional healing and I continued to walk after my hysterectomy finding comfort & nourishment being outside breathing in the fresh air & taking in nature’s beauty. It was only through this movement outside that I started to feel comfortable in my own body again, something that had slipped away especially after my hysterectomy & the immediate transition to surgical menopause that came with it.

There’s a lot of science & talk of the type of movement we should be doing at different stages in our lives & I’m taking note of this by adding more gentle strength work (including Pilates, which I am loving!) given my oopherectomy has increased my risk of osteoporosis. However, simply moving every day is still the most important thing for me especially combining this with the calm that nature offers 🤍

Affirmations aren’t about underplaying our challenges at any given time but they can help to focus on the present moment providing us with a tool for finding micro moments of joy (glimmers) which can support us to deflect negative thought patterns and slow down racing thoughts. I hope you can find some glimmers this week 💗

Are you keeping hydrated in the heat? 💦

Whether you’re enjoying time outdoors, walking to work, working in the heat or spending long days in aircon environments - all can leave us needing more hydration. Most of all if you’re sweating you’ll be losing essential electrolytes.

Keeping hydrated doesn’t just replace these electrolytes but also has a role in helping our bodies manage pain & inflammation - something I’m always looking to support given I have endo & am in surgical menopause. Hydration helps our bodies address inflammation by supporting elimination of toxins. It also contributes to healthy muscles, joints & ligaments. Dehydration is a common migraine trigger too & in menopause fluid regulation in the body can be affected by declines in oestrogen & progesterone making hydration even more important. Dehydration can exacerbate period cramping given it causes electrolyte imbalances.

I’m often asked which electrolytes I use. I love Electrolyte Fix for daily use & if I’m feeling very dehydrated or have been doing higher impact exercise I use Restore. Both are free from unnecessary additives & sugars.

Electrolytes have been an important part of my migraine management protocols over the last year but they’ve also contributed to me feeling more alert & are supporting my digestion & gut health while I’m treating my SIBO.

How are you keeping hydrated? 🩵 I hope you can find cool & refreshment this weekend x
