This afternoon, residents from Camberley Heights enjoyed a fantastic trip to Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, a truly unique indoor living history experience.

From strolling along beautifully recreated Victorian cobbles and 1930s streets to exploring authentic shops, a vintage arcade, and even a traditional pub, there was so much to see and enjoy. The collection of historic vehicles was a real highlight for the gentleman of the group.

Most importantly, the visit sparked wonderful memories and conversations among our residents, making the day even more special.

A memorable outing for all, weโ€™re already looking forward to our next visit!

A Trip Down Memory Lane!
We were delighted to have had Joan Collingwood to talk to our residents this week and the talk was entitled " Park Street Through The Ages"
Joan use to live where Stokes Lodge is back in the day...has lived in this area all her life and it gives her great delight to share with people how things use to be and what has changed over the years.

What was so lovely to hear is that when Joan use to go into the town there was one of our residents that she would bump into regularly of which they became good friends over a period of time....she told us one day she was no longer there and hadn't seen her for months and they all wondered what had happened to her.....well that person walked into the Cinema room for her talk!....she was so delighted to see her and after the talk they had a good old catch up, clearly had lots to catch up on ! ๐Ÿ˜

I had the privilege to go along today to the local Sunflower Dementia Cafรฉ which is held every last Friday of the month at St Pauls Church Frimley.
It was lovely to catch up with my fellow friends from Bagshot Gardens but it was also lovely to catch up with Anne again who came along to our home a few weeks ago to our "Fish & Chips" club.
It's amazing sitting down having a chat with someone what you find out!
Well I found out that Anne was born in Devon, however before coming to this area in 2003 she lived in Cornwall, Boscastle. When she told me this....I said "Ah...I love Boscastle" I went there many years ago and it's definitely a place I'd love to go back with my family. I asked her how come you moved from such a beautiful place, she told me her husband worked in the milk factory had an accident with his hand and needed regular help and physio via the hospital... but the nearest hospital over there was 40 miles away! ....so they decided to move to Camberley, her and her husband lived with her mum for a few years and then they found a lovely Bungalow in Frimley.
She also told me that her dad was in the 1st and 2nd world war in the Navy....it's amazing what you find out just spending 20 minutes with someone!

Was so lovely to see Anne again and this time to really get to know her a bit better ๐Ÿ˜
I'm looking forward to getting to know a few more of the others at this Sunflower Cafรฉ in the coming months! ๐ŸŒป

It was an absolute pleasure to have had the company and join these lovely people last Friday for my monthly Fish & Chips Club here at our home.
A big thank you to Jenny Thornton from Right At Home for helping and organising this lunch so that we could all spend some time together to get to know each other, I recently met some of them at the monthly Frimley Sunflower Dementia Cafรฉ.
What made it even more special was to hear David and Margaret this July will be celebrating 70 years of marriage together....David was telling us the story as to how they met years ago....was so heart-warming to hear....real childhood sweet hearts and you can see he still dotes on his wife to this very day!

Absolutely beautiful...a lesson to us all.... ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ’ž

So last week was "Health & Nutrition Week" and across the week we had a number of activities to do with being "healthy" .... here are some of our residents having a variety of fruits one afternoon....and another day they were trying out different types of healthy drinks thanks to our wonderful head chef Alex....have to say having read some of the ingredients we were a bit dubious when trialling them out....but actually they were very tasty! ๐Ÿ˜‹

It's certainly important to make sure we help our residents to keep healthy and last week was also a good reminder for all of us !

We had a wonderful meeting last week with David Annand from Adopt A Grandparent.
This charity was set up for anyone who lives on their own, is perhaps quite lonely and would like to almost have a "Pen Pal" to get to know, make friends with and have regular weekly/monthly chats and the beauty of this service is that it's done all on-line.

Loneliness is something that's very important to us at Camberley Heights so we have decided to work with this charity as we feel some of our residents would love this opportunity and especially those that are more bed bound and don't get the chance to attend many of the regular activities we have on offer at the home.

What they do is get to know our residents by getting them to complete a form (or we will help them) to work out what their interests and likes are...some of their hobbies in the past, places they have visited, languages they speak....etc etc...and then they will match a similar volunteer who has those similar interests.

David told us he has a number of volunteers are ready to meet their "adopted grandparent" and can't wait to meet them...how lovely is this. โ˜บ๏ธ

We are looking forward to working alongside David and his team and looking forward to seeing these beautiful friendships grow ๐Ÿชด
