Our Story

Ashtanga Yoga (South East) is run by teacher DEBBIE ASHFORD. Debbie has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching yoga for over 25 years. She is registered with the British Wheel of Yoga under her first teacher Swami Satchidananda Ma and completed her apprenticeship with her present Teacher Radha Warrell in Crete, in 2001. Debbie regularly returns to Crete to continue to train with Radha and Pierre Seguir, learning and developing her own practice.

Debbie says : “Yoga is a healing journey back to the self. When we step on the Mat we are returning back to who we really are. The system of yoga I teach is ancient and when we connect to this system we tap into an old pattern - a memory/source. All this memories are held in our energy field and when we practice -these memories are awakened. To get back to our pure source” The Atman” we practice our Yoga, we stretch the body and the mind!

We sit, we meditate, we contemplate and most important WE BREATHE. The whole system is about Breathing because when we breathe this links our mind body and spirit back to SOURCE. Some people call the source -Light, God, Love ,Energy -its all different words to express the same thing which is -our awakened self.”
