Something resonated with me during my drive today. While listening to a podcast, RCSLT's CEO Steve Jamieson mentioned how speech & language therapists rarely talk about the impact of their work.

As I reflect on the families I work with and the progress we achieve together, I realise I could share more of these meaningful moments. Whether it's helping a child communicate with their siblings, supporting a parent through their journey or collaborating with teachers to help a student thrive in the classroom, each day brings rewarding experiences that remind me why I love this profession.

Many of our families are starting the new school year today and tomorrow. We’re sending our best wishes for a smooth transition and a year full of fun, excitement and learning!

Packing tasting pots for a client who chose a target of ‘getting buff’ as their goal for this term.

As part of this we are exploring:
What does getting buff mean?
Vocabulary around health, wellness, exercise
Planning skills
Prediction (what could happen, will I like it)
Problem solving

Part of this includes what is a healthy plate and expanding our food choices.

Back to school after half term: my car resource box is packed….. When I have a few minutes between schools/visits I can use that time to prep fun activities.

Having fun making our own firework patterns with spray chalk & glitter paint. Lots of opportunities for using and modelling language. The best bit…… the laughter and exclamations of “awesome”. Modelling language is fun!!
