It’s been another frustrating day of weather across the region.

While there have been some brighter spells, they’ve been short-lived, and the persistent gusty winds have taken the edge off temperatures, making it feel cooler than you might expect for mid-April.
There is, however, a bit of a change on the horizon.
From Saturday into Sunday, conditions begin to settle. We’re likely to see more in the way of sunshine, with winds easing for a time and temperatures starting to recover. By Sunday evening, the breeze may pick up again slightly, but overall it’s a noticeable improvement.
Looking a little further ahead, there are growing signs that spring may begin to re-establish itself properly from this weekend onwards. We should start to see more frequent sunny spells, lighter and more variable winds, and daytime temperatures climbing back into the mid-teens.
A short drier spell also looks increasingly likely.
For those of you with an eye on the garden, this could be a good opportunity to get things moving again. It might be time to prepare your water butts, plan a visit to the garden centre, and start thinking about bedding plants ahead of the summer season.
We’d love to hear from you this evening, what are you planning to grow this year?
Do you have a favourite plant, shrub, or flower? And has anyone had success growing Mediterranean style plants, such as Aeoniums, which tend to do particularly well in parts of Cornwall, especially the Isles of Scilly?
Let us know in the comments. 🌿
