What a beautiful service to cemmorate 14 years since we opened.
Thank you to everyone who supported us today and everyone who attended.
I wanted to share this beautiful poem that one of our celebrants wrote especially for today's service.
“Fourteen Years at Treswithian Downs” By Becky Thomas
Fourteen years ago, these gates first opened, and the land began to gather stories.
Many arrived in sorrow,
some in quiet reflection,
all in need of a place that would hold them gently.
Here, goodbyes are spoken,
and yet beginnings also take root.
Change is part of every season —
wildflowers shift in the meadow,
trees stretch higher,
paths carry the imprint of countless difficult journeys made.
This is a place of compassion and care,
where laughter is not out of place,
and tears are given room to fall.
A place for Cornwall’s families to pause, for funeral directors to guide with dignity, for nature to remind us that life continues.
In fourteen years, Treswithian Downs has grown, not only in its gardens and wild spaces, but in the hope it offers — that from each ending, something new can begin.
Here, change is met with welcome,
and every story is treated with respect.
Here, life and death stand side by side, and the horizon always holds the promise of tomorrow.
And as we look ahead,
we know this place will keep evolving —
rooted in the same care,
opening its arms to the next chapter,
ready to hold the stories yet to come. ❤️
