I’ve been using my new found skills on the beautiful Thorin today.

He’s been so fussy all day and really struggling to fall asleep so a quick tummy and legs routine to release lots of gas and there really was a lot!! Followed by a calming little head massage. Just look at that relaxed face.

Just some of the benefits of baby massage. In our sessions we supply everything you need so you just bring the little one. We have time after for cake, drinks and chat so there’s also that added benefit of support from other mums and myself a childcare professional for all those questions that we find ourselves googling in the middle of the night ❤️

Let’s talk birth plans. It’s ok if yours doesn’t go to plan, it’s also ok to grieve the birth you wished for. Mine couldn’t have been more opposite to my plans and I’m pleased. Yes! I’m pleased that I got hardly anything I wanted as I now feel the universe had a different plan.

For this birth, I hired a Doula, planned a home birth with no medical intervention, and this all came about because of trauma from having to give birth in hospital to my last child during Covid. It was not a good experience and it is why I want to get in the birth work because there is so much support that women need, but they just don’t get and this is especially true around feeding, but that’s a whole different story.

What I got was a hospital birth, my waters broken artificially, induction using pitocin, clips on the babies head and everything that doulas seem to suggest you avoid. I even had an epidural! I’m so glad I did, I’ve been fighting it all these years, but when it came down to it, my babies safety and my own mental well-being had to come top of the list. But I also got the most amazing birthing team and with that came healing from my past births. I thought I needed a healing homebirth, but what I really needed was a healing Hospital birth.

as part of our birthing support packages, we will spend a whole session around your birthing plan and alternatives, making sure that you are well informed on all the options that are available to you and know what to expect.

It is maternal mental health week and as this is such a huge part of what we aim to embed in our ethos at dandelion Babi collective It’s so important to talk about our mental health during this phase of our life. This year the theme is all about rediscovering you. When we birth our babies we also birth a new version of ourselves and sometimes it takes a lot to get our heads around that.

Many mums report feeling lost and guilty because they feel they should be happy as they’ve got this beautiful new baby in their life but instead there’s feelings of being just a mum and not knowing the person outside of that anymore.

Reaching out and spending time with others can really help with this.

This is where our baby massage and baby yoga sessions and really help, each have dedicated time at the end to chat, play, get support and of course eat cake. Having other people going through similar will help you feel less alone in this new world ♥️♥️

This is so important. I’ve been in with reduced movement over 10 times in this pregnancy. I was awake all night last night anxious about it and today opted for something I said I’d never do again which is induction of labour.

Sometimes you just need to quiet the outside voices and listen to yourself and your intuition.

Happy world day and nature babies day!

Take some time today for you and your little ones to connect with nature and spend some time outside. I’m also a home educating mummy so today I’ve made this part of our learning.

Here’s some of what we’ve done:

👂 Listening for sounds and describing whether they come from nature or man.

🌿 using natural materials like sticks and leaves to paint and see what textures we can make.

🌸 threading with flowers and grass to create a picture.

🪴 growing your own garden plants. Today we added garlic and lettuce to our potting station.

Very excited to be starting one element of training today. We are going to be doing Womb steaming

So what is womb steaming?

It is a universal practice without one place of origin.

The practice involves boiling water in a pot, allowing the water to cool to a comfortable temperature, then sitting, squatting or standing over the pot so that the steam can reach the v***a, vaginal canal, and perineum. The water is infused with herbs to enhance the healing qualities of the steam.

It is a practice that women developed all around the world thousands of years ago for postpartum care and treating gynecological concerns.

V-Steaming can help:

Reduce symptoms of PMS
Regulate your cycle
Improve libido
Increase fertility
Heal postpartum
Maintain healthy odor, and more.

The holistic practice has been found in the following places:

South Korea, Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Latvia, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Romania, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Guyana, Panama, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Navajo Nation, Lakota Nation, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, Ancient Egypt, Babylonia, Mesopotomia, Aztec Empire and Mayan Empire.

I’ll be the first one to try it post partum. Not long now xx

Tommorow is Nature Babies Day

This is an invitation to connect to nature for a moment, hour or day to celebrate all that we receive from nature, express our gratitude, feel the love of returning to the wild and being present with how nature brings us home to ourselves through peace, calm, beauty and joy.

Babies thrive in nature and its the perfect sensory environment to calm, soothe and create delight and joy. Connecting babies to nature in the first 1001 days of life helps to harmonise babies with the wonder of the world and starts a respectful and honouring relationship from the beginning of life. As babies are able to know nature deeply, they can grow to honour nature creating a respectful and protective relationship.

Parents and carers can also benefit from the physical, emotional and mental benefits of spending time in nature, creating space and time to come out of the thoughts of the mind and into the power and presence of the heart.

Keep your eyes peeled today and tommorow for lots of ideas of how you can get out into nature to connect with your baby.
