Hello! I've been very quiet on here recently as I'm in the depths of studying (and have been since October) but I am still here 👋 I've still been busy supporting lovely couples whilst I study but it has meant my availability is very limited with just one space left for August and then I'll be taking a bit of time out to submit all my final assignments. Please do still get in touch if you would like any help preparing for birth and I will always help if I can ❤️ now back to the books! 🤓

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2024 ♥️
2023 has seen lots more babies and I've loved working with so many fantastic expectant parents; hearing their birth stories and seeing gorgeous pictures of their new arrivals is a massive highlight. I'm looking forward to supporting many more parents in 2024. This year will also bring exciting changes as I've embarked on new training - something I've wanted to do for many years but the timings not been quite right. Watch this space for more info!

Dad review! All the courses I run are for birth companions too. The birth companion role is a BIG one - the advocate, the morale booster, the reassurance, the practical and emotional support... Plus all the relaxation techniques can (and from feedback often are!) be used to help keep calm in birth too.

I feel incredibly lucky to work with the lovely people that I do and it's especially nice to receive positive feedback like this. Quite a few people come to me after a tough first birth experience, looking to make this experience different and better. This doesn't mean everything following 'Plan A', but instead keeping a sense of control and seeing how this experience doesn't have to be a repeat of the last.

➡As well as full courses I run refresher sessions and bespoke/intensive classes to fit your needs, get in touch to find out more LittleWrenBirthing@outlook.com

This is a topic that’s generated a lot of discussion with clients recently and it’s something that I love (hence why I did some extra training in this area so I could find out more!). Scent can be really powerful for some people – drawing them back to a moment in time or an experience, or just helping them to ease into a lovely relaxed state more quickly. If there’s something you use when relaxing – having a bath or doing meditation for example that can be a nice way to start.

Important to do your research especially around essential oil use in pregnancy/childbirth though as there are only certain ones that are considered safe in pregnancy/childbirth. There are some lovely ones though that I know clients I’ve worked with have loved and mentioned in their birth stories to me as being helpful.

What smell has a really strong association for you? I'm loving all the smells of freshly cut fields at the moment, it really takes me back to summers growing up on a farm and makes me so happy 🚜❤

I found reflexology a fantastic way to relax in pregnancy and I used it along my fertility journey too. I still find it really relaxing and a good way to reset and slow things down when my head's feeling very busy. In pregnancy it's often associated with people going later on in pregnancy to help baby on it's way but actually it's something that can be helpful and a lovely way to relax at other points in pregnancy too. I had the pleasure of a beautiful reflexology treatment with recently. Janice creates a really calming and warm space that leaves you feeling truly pampered and relaxed. She now runs sessions from a clinic space in Impington, check out her pages for more info!

It's been a while since I last posted so I thought I would pop by and say hello 👋. Behind the scenes I've been busy supporting lots of wonderful clients on their journeys, plus I've been spending lots of time with my boys (this is us at the beach last weekend ☀️). My eldest goes to school in Sept so soaking up all the extra time I get with him now❤️

As it's been a while I'll start from the beginning...I'm Holly, a hypnobirthing instructor based in Cambridgeshire. I'm a mum to two amazing boys who kicked me off on my hypnobirthing journey.

Why hypnobirthing? For me it's all about helping people to trust their body and themselves. That doesn't mean a certain type of birth but being informed so that you can make choices you feel happy with as birth isn't always straightforward. Also having ways to deal with things when things aren't going to plan A, having ways to help you feel calm is always going to be helpful.

What do I teach? I teach full hypnobirthing courses, refresher courses and intensive courses. I've been finding lately that shorter more intensive courses have been fitting better with people's needs which has been great. Also I am focusing on private courses rather than groups at the moment.

A bit about me? My background is biology and public health so science and evidence is important to me. I aim to make people feel as comfortable as possible and I love hearing people's stories and supporting people from a place of worry or fear about birth to a point where they can look forward to it and feel prepared.

Random fact about me? Now this is a very random one but I once had a cake business with my sister and on one occasion we made a cake for a celebration attended by our now King (I have a picture of him cutting into it so I like to think he had a taste!)

➡️Please get in touch if you would like to know more about the courses I run. I have pretty limited availability over the next few months (lots of autumn babies!) but I will always try and help if I can 🙂

There have been 2 little babies born this week to couples that attended courses with me which makes for a great start to the week ♥️

Both couples attended courses later on in pregnancy and both found it really useful. Some people like to start early so they have plenty of practice time, whereas others rather leave it until a bit later on. The choice is totally up to you. So even if you feel like you've left it too late, the chances are that you haven't!

I've been delivering more intensive shorter courses for those that are shorter on time, plus lots of refresher sessions. If you'd like to discuss what might be right for you then get in touch! The next few months are getting busy so try to get in touch soon if you can x

And just like that it's April! The end of March saw the arrival of 2 gorgeous little babies born to couples who had completed courses with me, so a perfect way to finish off the month.

Earlier in March I completed my Aromatherapy for Childbirth qualification and I've already been building this knowledge into courses which has been fantastic and really well received by clients.

The next few months are pretty busy - I have very limited availability for April and May. I will always try and help out if I can but if you're looking to get booked in please do get in touch ASAP ❤️

Study day! So excited to have started this aromatherapy in childbirth training today, it's something I've wanted to expand my knowledge on for a while. 3 modules in and it's fascinating!

I'm really looking forward to sharing ways you can use essential oils safely in birth in my sessions. Whether it's to manage pain, stress or nausea there are oils that may be able to help. I would have loved this knowledge in my labours ♥️

Visualisation is a powerful tool and there are lots of ways we can use it to help prepare for birth and during labour. It can help us to prepare for something where there is no practice run, and it can help us to focus and feel safe. There are lots of ways to use it and lots of ways it can be helpful and it's about finding what's right for you through practice and experimenting.

There are several ways it can be used to help you feel calm and focused in labour. If things are feeling tough then one thing that may be helpful is imagining holding your newborn baby in your arms - how will that feel to have them here at last? To be holding them close, the warmth, the smell, the love 🤍 What better focus and boost than the thought of holding your baby in your arms.

Making hypnobirthing accessible, normal and practical is exactly what I aim to do I was thrilled to receive this feedback from some wonderful clients I worked with in the Autumn. I want people to feel really comfortable in sessions and feel like they can ask me anything - such a big benefit of having someone teach/coach you through hypnobirthing/birth prep.

Could I just read a book on hypnobirthing? Yes, and that is absoloutely what some people do and it is the right decision for them. For me, and many others, I read books but I also took a hypnobirthing class and it was that instructor that really made me 'get it'. I needed to be able to ask questions, to learn techniques with someone demonstrating them and adjusting them. I needed the prompts to practice and to feel like my head was fully emersed in the hypnobirthing approach.

Doing a course got me listening to my visaulisation tracks daily, using affirmations, doing my breathing practice and really importantly it got my husband fully on the same page. He is really supportive but he just wasn't going to spend the time reading the books like I was, he read sections of books but being a part of 4 hypnobirthing sessions at our house made SO much difference. Those sessions not only got us practicing techniques like light touch massage, they also gave us a chance to discuss our choices and were the basis for us writing our birth preferences.

So yes, absolutely if doing your own research is the path for you then go for it. But if you are like me and you want someone to guide you through it in a practical way providing support along the way then I would love to hear from you.

When you first think or thought about giving birth how did you feel? It would be very normal to have some anxieties or worries and in some cases feel fearful of birth. A lot of what we get told about birth or what we see on TV doesn't paint it in the best light. Is this the whole picture? Absolutely not. Lots of people (including myself!) have positive experiences of birth.

The way we feel about things can have physical impacts throughout our bodies - think about the way a scary movie gets your heart racing at those tense moments, or how being nervous gives you butterflies in your stomach.

Our beliefs about birth and how we feel about it can have impacts throughout our body and this is especially important when we think about labour. Fear can bring tension into the body which doesn't help labour along and can make the whole thing more uncomfortable.

My courses are all designed to help you feel more relaxed and positive about birth and are packed with techniques and tools you can use in pregnancy, labour and beyond to help you feel calm. It's not just about one kind of birth, there are lots of techniques that can help you feel calm and relaxed if you are planning a c-section birth too.

It’s been a little while since I’ve said hello 👋 This is me and my youngest son who somehow is almost 2 years old. Not quite sure how that has happened! I’m Holly and I am mummy to 2 incredible little boys (my eldest is going to be 4 this year). Like a lot of people I came to hypnobirthing through recommendations from friends and family. I did a private course which I loved and it prepared me so well for birth. For me I needed to do the course face to face to really be able to ask the questions I wanted and get my head around it all. It also got me to do the homework and practice that needs to be done to really get the benefit from the course.

I became an instructor to help other people do as I did and replace the fear I had for birth with excitement and positivity. I want to help people make whatever birth they have a good one. One where they feel in control, knowledgeable and positive about when they look back on it.

As well as teaching hypnobirthing classes I've spent 8+ years working in public health, and much of that time in the mental health field. This is an important influence on the way I teach as evidence and research is really important for me. I always make sure I spend time focusing on wellbeing too and preparing for the big changes that will be happening in your life.

I would love to work with you and I offer a range of courses from full birth prep courses to refresher sessions and bespoke sessions (e.g. for c-section births). I work with clients either privately or in small groups and can offer sessions face-to-face in the Cambridgeshire area (or Norfolk/Suffolk if not too far from Ely), and virtually if you are further afield.

Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more littlewrenbirthing@outlook.com
