GETTING BACK TO HAVING BOUNDARIES... The abuse we endured made us less assertive and more willing to say "Yes" when we'd rather say "No" to things people ask us to do. This is because we had weak boundaries during the abuse, since standing up for your boundaries would mean more abuse. Now that you're out, you get to decide what you will and won't do, and will and won't tolerate.

That gives you back control of your life. The choice you have to make is between boundaries or being a doormat who forever does things they don't really want to do.
