Every breed is important to us and we have worked closely with many over the years, to investigate inherited disorders that represent a challenge to their health. As part of a regular series, we take a closer look at the work we have done with a particular breed.

This month it is the turn of the Italian Spinone, a breed that we have worked with for nearly 20 years, and have successfully identified a mutation for a debilitating disease in this breed.

Read on to find out more about this amazing breed and the work we have done with them - https://www.canine-genetics.org.uk/spotlight-on-the-italian-spinone/

Thank you for your continued support this year, see you in 2025!

One thing that makes us fairly unique in the canine DNA testing world is that all of our profits are ploughed back into research at the Canine Genetics Centre at University of Cambridge.

However, this is not enough to keep the centre running and (hopefully) around to find new variants as they appear in your breed. However, you can help them as well!

For just £5/month (£6.25 with GiftAid if you're a UK taxpayer) you can become a Friend of the CGC and help them to help dogs!

Please head over to their website to find out more, and tell your friends - https://www.canine-genetics.org.uk/about/cgc-friend/

1000 friends could bring in over £120,000 per year to the CGC for the price of a cup of coffee ☕️

🧬🐾 Help us, help dogs! 🐾🧬

Become a Friend of the CGC and help support our research into inherited diseases in dogs.

Friends receive a special lapel pin to wear with pride. They also have the opportunity to nominate someone for the Canine Genetic Testing sponsored Friends of the CGC Health and Welfare Award.

To join or learn more, please visit our website - https://www.canine-genetics.org.uk/about/cgc-friend/

If you're already a friend (THANK YOU!), please pass our message onto your friends... help us spread the word.

With the invaluable help of Our Dogs and a dedicated advisory group of unpaid volunteers, we are launching our new appeal. Our target is to raise £345k to secure our Canine Genetics Centre over the next twelve months whilst we develop a longer-term funding strategy.

We are encouraging Breed Clubs/Societies, individual members, breeders and dog owners to engage with our work and fundraise to support our future. This is a one-off campaign and we do not intend to make an appeal on this scale again.

You can either DONATE directly, knowing that with Gift Aid, every £1 you donate means £1.25 for the CGC.

Or you can PLEDGE, allowing you donate in the future, in increments and over a longer period of time, providing much needed flexibility for you, but security for us.

For more details on our APPEAL please see our appeal launch page - bit.ly/cgc-appeal
