We’re standing in that in-between space where Summer is slowly fading and Autumn is stepping in. The air is cooler, the hedgerows are heavy with fruit, and there’s that feeling of gathering before Winter.
This is what’s calling me right now: Forest Walks
Long, slow walks under the turning leaves. Watching the earth change, noticing what’s leaving, what’s arriving. Letting the land show me how to soften into the season.
Herbal Tea
The kettle’s on most of the day now. Rose, hawthorn, chamomile, sometimes nettle...whatever feels needed in the moment. It’s not about the perfect blend, just the comfort of holding warmth in my hands.
Mushroom Foraging
The woods are alive with fungi this time of year. I’m still learning, slowly,
carefully. Some I take home, most I leave. Being among them feels like meeting an old, secret language!
Rosehip Syrup
Bright red along the hedgerows, little bottles of autumn sun waiting to be gathered. Full of vitamin C and sweetness, which is something to reach for in the deep of Winter when the body asks for support.
Elderberry Syrup
Dark, rich medicine that feels like protection. I love simmering them down, adding spices, making something to carry me through the colder months.
Fire Cider
Apple cider vinegar infused with garlic, onion, horseradish, ginger, honey and whatever else is growing close by. It’s sharp, warming and immune-boosting.. just like bottling up a little fire for the months ahead.
Equinox Ceremony
This is about marking the shift and taking a moment to honour balance before the days shorten. It doesn’t have to be big or complicated… just a candle, some breath, and a little time to listen to what the season is asking for. Sometimes I write down what I’m ready to let go of and offer it to the fire, letting the smoke carry it away.
Autumn reminds me to gather what I need, to tend to the body, and to make space for slowness. There’s so much here if we pause long enough to notice it!
