Look out for vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours…

We’ve been alerted to reports of fraudsters targeting elderly and vulnerable people.

These con artists usually engage their victims over the phone, often purporting to be from the police or the bank and in need of the victim’s help with an investigation into fraudulent activity on their account.

They may even pose as an investor and pressure someone into parting with money for a “too good to miss” investment opportunity.

They often ask the victim to disclose their card details and pin number or withdraw money from their account ready for them to collect.

Keep an eye on vulnerable relatives and remind them…

✋ Stop – if they receive an unexpected call that requires them to hand over money or bank details, end the call and process the information first
📞 Protect – call the bank immediately if they think they’ve been scammed so they can freeze their account
⚠️ Alert – tell them to report the incident to police and a trusted friend or relative

It is crucial to exercise caution and vigilance when it comes to safeguarding your personal information, especially in an age of increasingly sophisticated scams and fraudulent schemes conducted over the phone. Unscrupulous individuals may attempt to deceive you or your loved ones into divulging sensitive details such as credit card information, birthdates, or bank account credentials. By convincingly impersonating legitimate companies or authorities, these scammers aim to exploit your trust for their own financial gain. It is imperative to educate your friends and family members, particularly the elderly who are often targeted, about the importance of never sharing personal information with unsolicited callers, no matter how official or threatening they may seem. Remind them to be sceptical of any unexpected phone calls requesting sensitive data, and to instead hang up and directly contact the company or organisation through a verified phone number if they have any doubts. By spreading awareness and encouraging a cautious approach to phone interactions, you can help protect your loved ones from falling victim to insidious telephone scams and the devastating consequences of identity theft or financial loss.

Lets talk about January 🩵
January can be a challenging month for many people. While the start of a new year is often associated with feelings of renewal, motivation, and the promise of a fresh start, the reality is often quite different. The pressure to set ambitious resolutions, overhaul our routines, and make drastic improvements in our lives can feel overwhelming, especially given the natural conditions of the season. In the heart of winter, the short, dark days and frigid temperatures can leave us feeling sluggish, tired, and unmotivated. Our natural circadian rhythms are disrupted by the lack of sunlight, and our bodies may crave more rest, just as many animals instinctively hibernate during this time. It's important to remember that these feelings are completely normal and valid. Rather than beating ourselves up or forcing major life changes, we should strive to be gentle with ourselves and honour our natural energy levels. This may mean setting smaller, more achievable goals, focusing on self-care and relaxation, and giving ourselves permission to move slowly and take things one day at a time. By showing ourselves compassion and patience, we can navigate the challenges of January with greater ease and set ourselves up for more sustainable, fulfilling growth in the months to come.
