"Patients are sometimes surprised to learn that drains are not always necessary after face and neck lift surgery.

For many years, they were considered a routine part of post-operative care. However, surgical practices evolve, and so do the techniques used to support healing.

In this video, Mr Ahmad explains why he no longer uses drains in face and neck lift surgery, and what he uses instead.

He also discusses the reasoning behind this decision, the trade-offs involved, and what patients can expect in the early stages after surgery.

Have you met Mr Andrabi?
It is hard to believe he has only been with us for a year.

In that time, he has become an integral part of the clinic. He works closely with the team, supports day-to-day patient care, and has been a genuinely positive presence as the clinic continues to grow.

He studied Biomedical Science at Manchester Metropolitan University before completing an MSc in Physician Associate Studies at the University of Manchester, where he gained broad clinical experience, including surgical rotations.

Since then, he has continued to build on that foundation with training in Plasma IQ and Laser ME, alongside his work here at Cambridge Clear Beauty. He also works closely with the Consultant Plastic Surgeon in theatre, further developing his experience within surgery and aesthetics.

Qualifications matter, of course, but so too does the way someone works with people, the way they support a team, and the calm they bring to a clinical environment. Mr Andrabi embodies all of these qualities, and we are very glad to have him here.

The lower face and neck age in conjunction, not in isolation.

Over time, the support along the jawline begins to shift, and the definition between the jawline and neck can diminish. These changes are often gradual, but collectively they alter the overall balance of the profile.

In this female patient, a facelift and neck lift were performed to address these structural changes. The procedure focused on repositioning the deeper facial tissues while adjusting excess skin, helping restore support to the lower face and improve the definition beneath the chin.

Six months post-operatively, the tissues have largely settled, and the face begins to move more naturally again. At this stage, the surgical outcome is often clearer, although refinement continues over time.

Photographs can capture the visible change, but not the decisions made during planning, or the restraint involved in preserving what doesn't need to be altered.

After facelift surgery, one of the first questions patients often ask is when the final result will become visible.

There is usually an immediate change following the procedure. The facial tissues have been repositioned, and the skin often appears tighter and smoother. However, this early appearance also reflects post-operative swelling.

As the healing process progresses, the face gradually settles.

There are several stages of recovery, each with its own characteristics. Early swelling and bruising resolve first. Later phases involve the tissues softening and adapting to their new position.

Most patients begin to get a clearer idea of the outcome after the first few weeks, but the face continues to refine as healing progresses.

In this video, Mr Ahmad explains the typical healing phases after a facelift and when patients can realistically expect to see their final result.

Walking into a clinic for the first time can evoke a mix of curiosity, anticipation, and sometimes a little uncertainty.

At Cambridge Clear Beauty, the aim is to create an environment where patients feel comfortable from the moment they arrive. The clinic has been designed to be calm, private, and welcoming – a place where conversations can happen without pressure, and where patients have the time and space to ask questions.

Behind each consultation room, a team works throughout the day to ensure appointments run smoothly and that every patient receives thoughtful, attentive care.

For many, the clinic quickly becomes a familiar place; not just somewhere they visit for treatment, but somewhere they feel comfortable returning to.

Ageing in the lower face is rarely limited to one structure.

Changes tend to appear across several areas simultaneously: the jawline softens, the neck loses definition, and the balance between the lips and the surrounding tissues gradually shifts.

In this female patient, a facelift and neck lift were performed to address laxity affecting the lower face and upper neck. These procedures work by repositioning deeper supporting tissues and adjusting excess skin, helping to restore structural support along the jawline and beneath the chin.

Concurrently, several smaller procedures were performed to refine the perioral area. A lower lip lift, dermabrasion, and commissure revision were carried out to address changes around the mouth, where ageing often affects both the skin surface and the position of the lip corners. Dermal filler was also used to support the surrounding soft tissue.

These photographs were taken three months after all the procedures were completed, at a stage where the early healing phase has largely settled and the tissues continue to refine.

When different areas of the face change together, treatment often needs to consider the face as a whole, rather than focusing on a single feature.

For two years, this patient had a lump in her left cheek that continued to grow.

After a scan confirmed it was benign, she was advised that removing it would likely leave a large, visible scar across her face.

Understandably, this prospect gave her pause.

Instead of proceeding immediately, she decided to seek a second opinion and came to see Mr Ahmad.

The discussion covered not only removing the lump, but also how the face heals, how scars behave on facial skin, and how surgical planning can affect symmetry and long-term appearance.

In this reel, she shares her experience of the consultation, the surgery, and the final result.

Many skin concerns are superficial.

Irregular texture, uneven tone, pigmentation caused by sun exposure, and fine lines that become more visible as skin renewal slows are all examples of these concerns.

A chemical peel involves applying a specially formulated solution to the skin. This encourages the outer layers to exfoliate, revealing newer, healthier skin cells.

Depending on the formulation and depth, chemical peels are commonly used to address several visible skin concerns:

🧬 Reduced Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines often become more noticeable when the outer layers of the skin thicken with accumulated cells. Chemical exfoliation helps remove these layers and supports the skin's natural renewal process, softening the appearance of superficial lines.

🧴 Acne Scar Reduction
Shallow acne scars are often related to an uneven skin surface and irregular collagen structure. By encouraging cell turnover and gradual skin regeneration, chemical peels can help smooth areas affected by mild scarring.

✨ Improved Skin Texture & Tone
When older skin cells remain on the surface, the skin can appear rough or dull. Chemical exfoliation helps remove these layers, allowing newer, smoother skin to emerge.

β˜€οΈ Sun Damage Treatment
Ultraviolet exposure can lead to pigmentation irregularities and uneven tone. Chemical peels help remove pigmented surface cells, improving the appearance of sun-related skin changes.

The appropriate peel depends on your skin type, the depth of treatment required, and the specific concerns identified during a consultation.

If you would like to learn whether a chemical peel is suitable for your skin, further information is available on our website.

When people think about facial ageing, they often focus on one feature. In reality, it is usually the relationship between the face and the neck that changes first.

The jawline becomes less defined, the neck begins to show laxity, and the transition between the two areas softens over time.

In this female patient, a facelift and neck lift were performed to address these structural changes. The procedure works by repositioning deeper facial tissues and adjusting excess skin, in order to restore support along the lower face while improving definition beneath the chin.

Because the face and neck age together, treating both areas during the same procedure often provides a more balanced result.

These photographs were taken fourteen months after surgery, once the tissues had fully settled and the longer phases of healing had progressed.

With time, the surgical changes integrate with the natural movement of the face, which is often when the outcome appears most settled.

"How long does a facelift last?"

This is one of the questions surgeons hear most often during consultations.

Years ago, the answer was sometimes simplified into numbers. Patients were told a facelift might take a certain number of years off their appearance and last for a specific period.

But facial ageing doesn't really work like that.

Surgery doesn't stop the ageing process. Instead, it repositions facial structures to a more youthful position, after which the face continues to age naturally from that new starting point.

In this video, Mr Ahmad explains why thinking about facelift results in terms of fixed timelines can be misleading, and why the deeper structural layers of the face, particularly the SMAS, play an important role in achieving results that age naturally over time.

Watch the full explanation in the reel to understand how surgeons approach facelift longevity.
