Following on from last year's fantastic event, Romsey Calling makes a second appearance on 27 September at the Earl of Beaconsfield on Mill Road. Things kick of at 3pm with activities for kids including face painting and drawing. There's an auction at 4.30pm, raffle prizes throughout the day, and music begins at 5pm through to 11pm. Check out the Events link for more information on activities, auction items and the musical lineup. Romsey Calling came about to raise money and awareness for Romsey Mill who need financial support to continue to provide services to some of Cambridge’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged families and young people. The less money Romsey Mill raise, the fewer people they can help – the fewer groups, clubs, activities, training and educational opportunities they can offer. In this ‘age of austerity’, public sector support for charities like Romsey Mill is in decline…but the need from young people and families keeps growing – as they face the reality of deprivation such as family breakdown, mental health issues, unemployment, homelessness, addiction, teenage pregnancy and domestic violence. When you lack hope and have no opportunities to improve your situation, out of despair and desperation you make choices that can affect the course of your whole life. Romsey Mill offers second chances, acceptance and all sorts of opportunities for people to succeed, fulfil their potential and feel valued.
