🧬 **NEW THEORY: What if chronic illness is actually your body trying to protect you?** 🧬

After years of research and personal experience with conditions like MCAS, EDS, and chronic fatigue, I've developed a theory that could change how we understand these conditions.

**My hypothesis: The Extracellular Matrix (ECM) - the connective tissue throughout our body - acts as an intelligent protective system that CONTRACTS when it senses danger.**

Here are my three main theories:

🍯 **GLUCOSE PROTECTION THEORY**
When we have high stress hormones, eat too much sugar, or drink alcohol, I believe the ECM contracts to create a protective barrier - literally shielding our cells from glucose overload. This could explain why people with chronic stress develop widespread connective tissue issues.

💭 **EMOTIONAL NUMBING THEORY**
The ECM may contract during emotional overwhelm to physically protect us from feeling too much. When our nervous system is overloaded, the matrix tightens to reduce sensory input - creating that "numb" or "disconnected" feeling many of us know so well.

⚡ **ENERGY CONSUMPTION THEORY**
Maintaining these protective contractions requires MASSIVE amounts of glucose. This could explain the crushing fatigue, blood sugar issues, and metabolic problems so common in chronic illness - our ECM is literally consuming our energy to keep us "safe."

**The problem?** These protective mechanisms evolved for short-term threats, not the chronic stress of modern life. So we get stuck in a protective state that becomes the problem itself.

This framework suggests healing isn't about fighting our symptoms, but understanding what our body is trying to protect us FROM and addressing those root causes.

What do you think? Does this resonate with your experience?

Brain Activity Reveals How We Learn From Mistakes

A new study reveals that animals learn much faster than previously thought by tracking brain activity in mice as they acquired new skills.

Researchers found that mice could learn a task in as few as 20-40 attempts, contradicting the belief that they require hundreds or thousands of trials.

Surprisingly, this learning occurred in the sensory cortex, a brain region typically associated with perception rather than cognition.

Even after learning the correct response, mice continued making mistakes, suggesting they were testing the boundaries of their knowledge.

The findings suggest that animals, including humans, might know more than they initially demonstrate and use trial-and-error to refine their skills.

This research provides insight into how the brain separates learning from performance, reshaping our understanding of how knowledge is formed and applied.

The absence of a clear consensus on the definition and significance of fascia and the indiscriminate use of the term throughout the clinical and scientific literature has led to skepticism regarding its importance in the human body. To address this challenge, we propose that: (1) fasciae, and the fa...

🌱 The Somatic Freeze Reaction 🌱

Experienced by the body as a generalised contraction of the Extracellular Matrix System to lower cellular metabolic rate (universal functioning of body/mind systems)

🪷 Symptoms of the Somatic Freeze Response:

• What we commonly label as "Depression"
• What we commonly label as "Anxiety"
• Fatigue and low energy states
• Cognitive processing challenges
• Digestive slowdown
• Immune system alterations
• Reduced sensory perception
• Emotional numbness or disconnection

🪷 When we integrate the Extracellular Matrix into therapeutic interventions, transformation happens rapidly! The person can shift from "depressed" to somatic thrive - often instantly.

✨ Activating these Salutogenic systems in our bodies literally "trans-re-forms" the body back to its innate "Thrive Systems"

What somatic practices have you found effective for shifting freeze states?

✨💫 Trans-re-forming Dysregulation in the Human Body 💫

This striking visual illustrates what happens to the body when we transition from fight/flight to regulation:

🤩 A dysregulated infant being co-regulated by a caring, wise elder of the "tribe."

🪷Notice the expression of bliss as the social engagement nervous system responds to reassuring care.🪷

🌱"We Thrive Because We Thrive"🌱

🌱Somatic Intelligence: Body/Mind Connection

When our social engagement nervous system is co-regulated and self-regulated, our extraordinary somatic body/mind functions optimally.

• Children are highly sensitive to "signals" in their environment
• When the "tribe" and parents display chronic stress patterns:
↳ 😱Children respond with chronic stress behaviors: it makes sense, right?

🌱Reframing Neurodevelopmental Conditions

ADHD (fight and flight response) and autism (somatic freeze response), IBS to name a very few, can primarily be understood as behaviors stemming from individuals picking up signals of chronic stress within the "tribe" system.

🌱Epigenetic & Somatic Dimensions

Important context: The "tribe" consists of members inheriting:
✨Somatic protecting biomechanical presentations
✨Epigenetic programming

These necessary survival epigenetic "bio-programming" patterns manifest as:
✨Somatic contractions
✨ Extracellular matrix (ECM) alterations

These compounds accumulate in the body through the soft part of our DNA across generations when co-regulation (as demonstrated in the video) is absent from tribal knowledge and culture.

🌱Why "Tribe"?

I deliberately use this term to reconnect with a simpler notion of human grouping.

💫Key Insight: When the tribe experiences chronic stress, all members become dysregulated, ultimately displaying behaviors arising from compounded somatic dysregulation.
