Our residents had a fantastic time celebrating International Dance Day! 💃🕺

The day began with a wonderful performance from our lovely singer, Molly, who had everyone smiling, singing along, and tapping their feet. 🎤✨

The fun didn’t stop there — we kept the party going with a silent disco! 🎧 Residents thoroughly enjoyed choosing their favourite tunes and dancing the afternoon away.

It was a joyful day full of music, laughter, and great memories. 💖

Today we had a very special visit from the lovely Pat dogs here at Alex Wood House 🐾💛

What a truly great day it was—full of wagging tails, big smiles, and so much joy! These wonderful dogs really found their way straight to our hearts.

✨ Virtual Reality Day – What an Adventure! ✨

On Friday, our residents took part in a truly incredible Virtual Reality Day, exploring the world (and beyond!) without leaving their seats 🌍💫

Everyone had the chance to choose where they wanted to go and what they wanted to experience – from breathtaking landscapes to unforgettable animal encounters.

🐬 Peter enjoyed swimming with dolphins, walking alongside elephants, playing with puppies, and watching a beautiful sunrise.
🌵 Sylvia explored American wildlife and the desert outback, travelled to Costa Rica, and ventured under the sea – describing it as “the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen… something I never thought I’d see.”
🌳 John immersed himself in a forest experience, even placing his bare feet on the grass, and travelled to Iceland, New Zealand, and France.
🎤 Mike watched Elvis live in Vegas and also went swimming with dolphins.
🗾 Sue journeyed through a Japanese forest, visited Venice and America, went on an American safari, swam with sharks, and shared “I’ve been here before – it was so lovely.”
✈️ Ken took to the skies in a Spitfire experience.
🐬 Brian also enjoyed swimming with dolphins.
🎶 Paulette watched The Walker Brothers in concert.
🏔️ Molly travelled to Devon, Cornwall, and even Mount Everest!
🎪 Mary visited Singapore, Santorini, and went behind the scenes at a circus in Venice.
🇫🇷 Maggie explored the beauty of French villages.
🇦🇺 Kath revisited Australia – a special place she had travelled to with her husband.
🐧 Rudolph journeyed to Antarctica and observed penguins.
🏜️ Justine visited the Grand Canyon.
🏠 Donnie flew home to Glasgow.
🚤 Marguerite visited Venice.
🐢 David enjoyed swimming with turtles.

It was a day filled with smiles, memories, and meaningful moments ❤️

Virtual reality truly opened up a world of possibilities, allowing everyone to revisit cherished places or experience something completely new.

Today some of our residents enjoyed a lovely day out at the Fitzwilliam Museum ☀️

With the sun shining, it was the perfect opportunity to explore the museum and take in all the fascinating exhibits. Everyone had a wonderful time, and it was great to see so many smiles throughout the day.

One of our residents especially loved the Egyptian collection—it was definitely a highlight! 🏺

Days like these are so special, creating happy memories and new experiences together.

🌸🍰 Getting Ready for the Bank Holiday & Easter Fun! 🍰🌸

Our residents and staff have had a wonderful time preparing for the Easter weekend with our Easter Cake Competition! From mixing the fruitcake, rolling the marzipan, icing, to the final decorating touches—every step has been full of fun, laughter, and creativity.

One of our residents said it brought back cherished memories of making celebration cakes for family and friends—reminding us all how baking is not just about treats, but about creating memories together. 💛

We can’t wait to see all the delicious creations and celebrate this special weekend with everyone.
