A rose ritual is a simple yet deeply meaningful way to pay your final respects 🌹

Often shared at the end of a service, either before the committal, as the coffin moves from sight, or just before leaving the ceremony space, it creates a gentle moment of connection and goodbye.

Here are some ways to bring intention and sensory awareness to this ritual:

🌹 Hold the rose to your heart before placing it down. Infuse it with your love, your gratitude, your prayers, your unspoken words.

🌹 Pause to breathe in its scent. As you inhale, let a favourite memory rise. Notice what you see, hear, or feel in that moment.

🌹 Remove a single petal before you lay the rose down: a small, tangible keepsake to carry with you.

Roses aren’t the only option. Any flower or herb that feels meaningful can be used, for example rosemary for remembrance, a bloom from your own garden.

Engaging the senses during a funeral helps anchor us in our bodies. When grief feels overwhelming, these small, mindful acts can gently soothe the nervous system and offer a moment of calm and connection.

🌺🌷🌻🌼General Synod backs Sustainable Church Flowers Motion
We are so pleased to hear of the Church synod yesterday for churches and cathedrals to encourage more sustainable flower options. We have always helped families choose flowers that are locally sourced without using plastics and foams. Instead considering native, garden foraged, willow and moss based tributes even vegetable wreaths. Something we have always done for over 12 years as a greener funeral director. This is just part of our ethos when choosing beautiful and more natural alternatives to everything we need when arranging a cremation or burial funeral.

Today is World Cancer Day and we wanted to take a second to send love to everyone surviving cancer.
We also remember with love all those who have lost their lives to this awful relentless disease 🎗️💕

As we approach the eighth Christmas in our shop on the High Street in Fulbourn, we take some time to reflect.

Remembering those that have come through our doors, remembering the families we have looked after from Fulbourn, Great Wilbraham and afar.

We have made warming relationships with the local residents, clergy and businesses that make up Fulbourn and Great Wilbraham and we feel truly at home amongst you all.

We wish you all a peaceful Christmas and will be thinking of those finding these festive times difficult.

We are always here with a warm welcome and time for a chat and a hug if needed, our phone lines are always open.
