❓What is Body Composition❓
Body composition refers to the proportions of fat mass, muscle mass, bone, and water that make up a person's body. It's a more detailed way to assess health and fitness than just looking at body weight or the outdated BMI, as it provides insight into the amount of fat and lean tissue.

❓Why is body composition important❓
🚑Health: Excess body fat is linked to various health risks, including heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.
💪Fitness: Body composition helps track progress in fitness programs by showing changes in muscle mass and fat loss.
🎭Performance: In athletes, body composition can be a crucial factor in performance and injury prevention.
🍓Nutrition: It helps assess nutritional status and the effectiveness of dietary interventions.

Do you want to find out what you're made of? Call us on 01487 843 844 or email info@hardingphysiotherapy.co.uk to book in.

This year, Alcohol Awareness Week in the UK is 7th-13th July. 🍺🍻🍾🥂🍸🍹

Why are we interested in this, as a physiotherapy clinic 🤷‍♀️?

The effects of alcohol on our liver or heart are well publicised, but did you know that it also impacts your bones, muscles, joints and nerves?

Understanding these effects can help you make informed choices about your alcohol consumption and overall health. Plus, when alcohol makes it hard for us to think clearly, we might not be as careful as we should be, leading up to more chances of getting muscle and joint injuries🤕!

Alcohol's effects on the musculoskeletal system can range from mild, temporary discomfort to severe, chronic conditions. These effects can include muscle weakness and wasting, increased risk of bone fractures, and potential exacerbation of joint pain, particularly in individuals with pre-existing conditions like osteoarthritis.

While low to moderate alcohol consumption might not significantly affect your musculoskeletal system, excessive or long-term alcohol misuse can lead to serious health problems and is known to be linked to over 40 medical conditions.

Being mindful of your drinking habits, and watching our for those around you, can help you maintain a healthy musculoskeletal system and overall well-being

We're super excited to have the latest In Body, Body Composition Testing Machine coming to our clinic.

In Body allows us all access to "The Modern Assessment of Health" - no more outdated BMIs or guesswork!

Body composition analysis is a method of describing what the body is made of, differentiating between fat, protein, minerals, and body water to give you a snapshot of your health. We're in the business of helping you achieve your health goals, and In Body is the ideal assistant to get hard data to show your starting point and to track your progress.

Body Composition is relevant to everyone - those looking to reduce fat, those looking to incease skeletal muscle, those wanting to even up muscle distribution, during recovery from injury or surgery and even as part of managing long term health conditions or frailty prevention.

It honestly has something to offer for EVERYONE.
