November is Lung Cancer and Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

A person’s risk of developing cancer depends on many factors, including age, genetics, and exposure to certain risk factors, some of which are linked to lifestyle. Understanding these factors is key to improving prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

In the , we are committed to engaging with diverse communities to ensure every voice is heard. We welcome NHS England's Ethnicity Recording Improvement Plan, a significant step forward in tackling health inequalities and building trust between patients and the healthcare system.

The plan rightly recognises that staff training alone is not enough. Improving the quality of ethnicity data also requires stronger systems and inclusive approaches that enable patients to share their information confidently.
