Today is a day that ME/CFS sufferers have dreamt of!

A large study has announced confirmation that ME/CFS is indeed largely caused by genes which affect both the immune system AND the nervous system opening the door for further research and potential treatment.

For many, including myself, this is a moment of validation. It is a tragic injustice that ME/CFS hasn't been taken more seriously. The legacy of 'yuppie flu' means that sufferers are still often medically gaslit or largely ignored and left to get on with life the best they can. From today, that has to change and how welcome that change is!

My prediction is that, in time, scientists will also link ME/CFS with a grouping of comorbidities which include hyper mobility, EDS, ADHD, ASD, MCAS, POTS, PCOS, FND, Fibromyalgia and IBS to name a few...

In the 20 years that I've been privileged to work with clients who have chronic illness, and being all too familiar with the above list myself, this cluster of diagnosis' always seems to travel in the company of others on the list. The connection, I believe, will be genetic and also have a relationship to mitochondria (the 'rechargeable' part of our cells).

I can't wait to find out where all this leads!

Yesterday, I felt a part of something quite special.

When I trained 21 years ago, Aromatherapy was still taught following the traditions of Maury and Arcier who are recognised for introducing 'British Aromatherapy' which at its heart is a bespoke, holistic selection of essential oils which are blended safely and applied to the skin using intentionally relaxing massage to the face and back.

Yesterday, I was able to indulge in a whole day of revisiting, and delving deeper into, British Aromatherapy at The Well School. Incredibly, this was the first opportunity I've had to do this since I first trained because the 'industry' of Aromatherapy has changed so much over the years.

But we're still here. Holistic Aromatherapists, using our knowledge of plants with tender, intentional touch to hold space for you during Aromatherapy massage.

Thank you for so beautifully providing the space for us Aromatherapists to reconnect with British Aromatherapy.

On-site Chair Massage Event for Mental Health Awareness Week.

What a privilege to have spent the day at the very beautiful St Catharine's College. We were invited to offer on-site chair massage and reflexology in promotion of Mental Health Awareness week.

As you can see, our therapy room for the day was a stunning example of what makes Cambridge so special and we were welcomed by exceptionally warm and friendly people all day long. Smiles for miles.

So many people were astonished that they were able to achieve such a deep state of relaxation in just 15 minutes and whilst at work. We had reports that staff could smell our 'day spa' down the corridors and that our calming vibe had spread to those who weren't lucky enough to book a massage.

Pictured with me is Jamie, my colleague and associate therapist at Sturton street - she is a whizz on the massage chair. I may need to start referring to her as the 'On-site massage Ninja' as I watched person after person magically let go of their tension after just a brief few moments of her attention. Magic!
