Know the signs of a serious head injury, it could save a child’s life.
"Just a bump." Until it’s not.
Today’s post isn’t full of banter — because sometimes the job reminds us that even the ‘harmless’ stuff can turn tragic.
A 6-year-old lad, Mohammed Yaseen Uddin, sadly passed away after bumping his head during school break. He seemed fine, went home with an ice pack... and never woke up. A delayed brain bleed took his life.
We’re not here to scare you — but we are here to educate you.
🧠 Head Bumps: When “They Seem Fine” Isn’t Enough
Sure, 9 times out of 10 it is just a bump.
But that 1 time? You don’t want to miss the signs.
🚨 Call 999 or head straight to A&E if:
*They’re vomiting repeatedly
*They’re hard to wake or acting confused
*They develop a severe or worsening headache
*They have seizures
*Clear fluid or blood comes from ears/nose
*They become unusually sleepy, irritable, or unsteady
These are red flags for brain injury — and time is brain.
🧊 Home Care for Minor Head Injuries:
*Cold compress (ice pack wrapped in cloth)
*Keep them calm and resting
*Paracetamol for pain (NO ibuprofen under 16s unless advised)
*Monitor for 48 hours like your WiFi depends on it
*Wake them periodically if sleeping (especially first 6–12 hours)
🧢 Bonus Pro Tip:
No contact sports, trampolining, or WWE-style living room wrestling for at least 3 weeks after a head injury. You’re not raising a gladiator.
📣 Final Word:
If your gut says, “This feels off…”, trust it.
We’d rather rock up and find nothing wrong than miss something deadly.
Stay safe. Stay sarcastic. But never ignore a head knock.
