So many people moaning about the differences with the 1921 Census on FMP and the same census released on Ancestry today. Perhaps it’s a good time to remember how damned lucky we are that all this info is at our fingertips in the comfort of our own homes rather than the good old days when we had to drag ourselves to the nearest archive or repository. I think we sometimes forget just how luck we are to have all this info at the click of a button.

Last weekend I attended a family gathering based on research I’ve been doing for a client. 3 years ago these people didn’t know each other existed. Now they’re all cousins at varying degrees. People from all over (including the USA) descended on Kessingland in Suffolk to meet up. It was a great evening of eating, drinking and discussing relatives and ancestors. The family all shared extra info with me to help expand what has now become a One Name Study rather than a straightforward 4 gen tree! If anyone has any FARMAN connection I’d love to hear from you and add you to our ever increasing database.

I’ve had an interesting few days working on my One Place Study which is Wattisfield, in Suffolk. I’ve pulled together all the entries on the 1851 Census and added them to a spreadsheet in preparation for building wash family forward, and then just for fun I started researching The Black Death in 1349! The neighbouring village of Walsham was decimated but Wattisfield doesn’t seem to have been so badly affected, I’m curious as to why… just a cheerful little side project to occupy the winter evenings!
