Our Story
CPFT Psychological Wellbeing Service is a part of NHS initiative called IAPT, which is designed to make psychological or talking therapies more accessible to people experiencing common mental health problems. The psychological therapies offered are treatments approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). This means that the talking therapies that we offer are proven to be effective treatments for problems such as depression and anxiety. The services offer short term psychological treatments for patients primarily at a mild to moderate severity level. Patients with more severe or complex difficulties may need to be seen by other parts of the mental health service.
Over time our service has evolved to make more accessible for patients and introduced self referral in 2015. People do not need a formal diagnosis to access the service. More recently the service has developed a team who specialise in long term conditions such as diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). We are also developing the service so that is more accessible to all of our community such as the Over 65s.
We currently have over 150 clinical staff working in different locations across the county including Cambridge, Huntingdon, Fenland and Peterborough working at team bases and in various community locations offering treatments face to face, via phone and online options. CPFT Psychological Wellbeing Service is recognised as one of the top performing IAPT services in the country so please self refer if you need support.
