Our first term of Crossfit Kids and Teens is underway at Crossfit Beta in Cambridge!

We offer specialist coaching and programming to ensure Kids and Teens are moving well, developing new skills, being empowered and most importantly, having fun.

Amongst growing worries for young people's mental health, and unmet demand for individual psychological therapy, I really believe this is a much needed community-based venture which can help.

We still have some space if you know anyone who might be interested!

Very excited to share our newest venture - Crossfit Kids and Crossfit Teens is launching soon in collaboration with Alphafit/Crossfit Beta in Cambridge! The significant benefit of exercise to our physical and mental health is well known. Getting kids and teens into enjoyable, sociable and sustainable exercise from a young age is a game changer, especially when it's done in a healthy environment which promotes fun, support, self compassion and a healthy attitude to our bodies.

Therapy is beneficial to many but it can't be the only change we make. If your child/teen is struggling with low mood, social anxiety, low confidence, body image difficulties or stress, this could be the difference. For more information, contact us on crossfitkids@peterkinpsychology.com

Its been a tough few years for many and I think we've all recognised the unique experience of children and teenagers throughout the pandemic. I often find this is a particularly challenging time of year for teenagers getting to grips with the demands of the academic year. If you or someone you know is struggling, friendly and knowledgeable support is available through Peterkin Psychology Services.

There is an awful lot going on right now. I wonder if we're really acknowledging the rollercoaster of emotions and the impact on our mental health. Excitement about moving forward, and anxiety about the impact? A brief sense of feeling more united and proud. Anger and sadness at the inexcusable actions of others and powerlessness when facing how much change is needed? Feeling the urge to act and then feeling on the edge just getting through day to day? Feeling that knot in your stomach constantly or just unable to actually connect with any of it because it's just too much? It's a lot.

Take the time to notice the impact on you and your well-being. Take the time to do something for your self care. Be compassionate to yourself and others. Take action in your own way when you can.

I was revisiting some of my old blog posts and came across this one. It’s an interesting one to consider (if I do say so myself…) as we re-evaluate our values post-lockdown(ish). Is anyone else reviewing what brings them happiness? What their goals or future ambitions are? Maybe a good starting point is to consider what supports your happiness and well-being in the here and now?

This is so important to our sense of self and well-being. But it’s not always easy to do. There are lots of barriers in prioritising yourself: not feeling worthy, not feeling deserving, worrying you will lose people in your life, not having the confidence or knowing how to take a stand. Changing the way you relate to yourself and others is challenging and takes time and support.
