There is something in management called “optics”—in Arabic, “البصريات”… In other words, you might be upset, for example, but your presence in a loud or festive environment could give others the wrong impression that you’re fine, unaffected, and even happy.
Does the principle of “optics” apply to governments the same way it does to individuals? The answer: absolutely yes.In light of the many disasters that have occurred in recent days—chief among them the Ramses Central fire and the tragic crash on the Regional Road that claimed the lives of 19 girls, and sadly wasn’t the last—it is highly inappropriate for the government to appear as though it’s vacationing in Alamein. It’s shameful. There must be an immediate decision to change this impression. All ministers should return to work from Cairo. All summer events should be canceled this year. We need to roll up our sleeves and get back to work—from our offices and from the streets. It’s disgraceful that lives are being lost in dozens on the roads, that a massive fire breaks out in one of the largest buildings in central Cairo, while officials are seen in plush chairs in seaside meeting rooms. This is Management abc“optics.” That is, if anyone truly understands… if, that is!

بناء الانسان وبناء البيئة
“I was deeply saddened by the recent tragic incidents in Cairo, which not only resulted in the deaths of Egyptians—such as in the gas explosion in 6th of October—but also the deaths of foreigners, as happened at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport. Of course, we do not question fate, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t discuss the underlying failures behind these events. Calling something fate doesn’t rule out accountability. Here in London, every individual has a health report covering the function of all body systems, as well as a social report that reflects their income, living capabilities, and even level of happiness. Just as there are reports for people, there are also reports for the ground they walk on. There’s a complete map of what lies beneath—cables, pipelines, etc.—and all of this data is stored on the local municipality’s servers. As a result, no construction or digging project occurs without consulting this map, which prevents the kind of recklessness we saw from the company that started digging, ruptured a gas pipe, and caused a fire that burned innocent civilians just going about their day.As for the second incident, where a billboard fell on travelers at the airport—it stems from a person who has no ‘map’ or profile with the state. He may not have received proper training, or he might have been ill or depressed when he installed the billboard. And from that, a tragedy occurred—one rarely heard of in any airport around the world. The core issue is that the human being—the citizen—is not being properly developed or supported, and that’s the responsibility of the state. The state also seems to lack the will to rebuild its people. Without that, we are bound to witness more disasters like these in the future—whether due to the neglect of human development, the environment, or the land itself.”
