PARTNERSHIP CHANGES - OCTOBER 2024
As you may know, Camelford Medical Centre consisted of two separate GP Practices – one run by Dr Garrod and one run by Dr Nash. At separate times during the last few years, both have been taken over by The Veor Group, based in Cambourne.
The Veor Group is a partnership, consisting of four Partners, who collectively manage Veor Surgery (Cambourne) and Camelford Medical Centre (together with its branch surgeries in St Breward and in Delabole). Dr Salil Pande and Ian Shepherd have day to day partnership responsibility for Camelford Medical Centre, with Dr Jonathan Norris and Scott Bennet having day to day partnership responsibility for Veor Surgery.
Partly due to the geographic distance between Cambourne and Camelford, and the desire for Camelford Medical Centre to be more autonomous, discussions have taken place within the Partnership and the decision has been made to remove Camelford Medical Centre and Veor Surgery from The Veor Group partnership, and to make them stand alone partnerships and practices.
NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board (ICB) have been made aware of this and are working with us to bring into effect the necessary contract changes that this will entail. We are also dealing with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as our provider registration will also need to change.
There will be many other ‘behind the scenes’ changes happening over the coming months and it would be wrong to say that these changes won’t affect you, as they will – hopefully with a positive effect, a more personal service, and increased relevance to the needs of patients in the north-west of Cornwall.
As part of this we will look at re-organising clinical rotas and the placement of various clinical staff in the three surgeries, all designed to better meet the needs of the surgery and its patients. Our branch surgeries in St Breward and Delabole will also see changes and improvements over the coming months. Dr Pande and I are keen to improve services for our Delabole patients, and we are in preliminary discussions with the ICB to see if we can establish proper dispensing facilities there. We currently have a collection service in Delabole for medicines dispensed in St Breward and it would be great to have a dispensary in Delabole.
We might not get it right the first time, but we will do our best to provide the best service we can, with the resources available to us at any given time.
This weekend saw a much needed ‘de-clutter’ of the surgery in Camelford, although there is still much to do and further improvements to come.
We are also keen to establish a Patient Participation Group (PPG) as a route for patients to advise and inform us on what matters most to them and to work with us to identify solutions to problems. If this is of particular interest to you then please let one of our receptionists have your details so that you can be contacted. If we have sufficient response, then we will work hard to set up a PPG as soon as possible.
Please bear with us over the coming months as our staff, both clinical and non-clinical, work hard to provide an improved service to you all.
Regards,
Ian Shepherd and Dr Salil Pande – 28th October 2024
