Not all heroes wear capes!
We had a lovely visit from Mrs G today; she brought us a lovely little surprise. Mrs G had a nasty fall in Cannock last month, when our Care manager, Sam and BDM, Emma, happened to be in the right place at the right time to assist her! Their basic life support training kicked in, and they had the confidence to provide support and first aid whilst waiting for the ambulance.
We are so grateful that you are almost fully healed and you still managed to do everything you had planned. Thank you for the lovely chocolates and review 💙. You have made our day!

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO COULD BE AT RISK OF A FIRE?
The primary aim of the Olive Branch Programme is to reduce the number of accidental dwelling fires, fire-related deaths and injuries across Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent.
In November 2006, an elderly woman called Olive died in a fire in her home. Eighty-year-old Olive lived alone and mostly in one downstairs room. She had a habit of collecting things she didn’t really need, and was also a smoker. She extinguished her ci******es by putting them under a rug and standing on it with her foot.
Olive was visited regularly by representatives from health and social services. But she was not known to the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, therefore no fire safety measures had been put in place.
Olive Branch was launched in February 2011 after a report by the coroner investigating the death of Olive said fire and rescue services must work more closely with the Care Quality Commission.
Statistics show that most people who die in an accidental house fire are aged 65 years and over, while those aged over 80 years are 10 times more likely to die in a fire than those aged 30.

Olive Branch Training aims to raise awareness of Fire Safety issues in the home for those that visit vulnerable members of our community. The session encourages and will give confidence to a wide range of home visitors such as Social Workers, Domiciliary Care Providers, Occupational Health Therapists, Police Offers etc. to identify potential fire hazards and other risks. At the end of the session delegates will know how to make a referral to request a Home Fire Safety Visit.
