Scar massage after a C-section is essential 🌸
C-sections can cause:
-Hypersensitivity around the abdomen
-Adhesions which can lead to lower back/hip pain due to the fascial pull its causing (not just a puckering of skin/scar tissue)
-Tightness & pain which can impact abdominal strength, blood flow to the area, posture, hips & back
-Pain with in*******se
-Gastrointestinal issues such as constipation or slow transit
-Overactive bladder
It's important to note that these can occur immediately after surgery but sometimes these symptoms can be more insidious & can start weeks, months or even years post surgery.
Scar therapy will:
-Facilitate a faster recovery
-Reduce tightness & can prevent adhesions (especially preventing/managing an overhang)
-Lessen pain
-Encourage sensory healing
-Release fascial pulling for long standing scars
Here at JW Holistics we will go through a movement & scar assessment to be able to best tailor the treatment to you.
Education is imperative when maintaining & continuing scar work.
A scar therapy massage helps you get back in touch with your body & appreciate what it's just gone through- the female body is incredible. Especially as the medical system does not appear to make C-section scar management a priority during post birth checks as much as they should be.
You can start your scar therapy treatment approx 8 weeks post surgery ensuring there is no sign of infection or any scabs still present. Even if you had your C-section years ago, it's never too late to start.
