Hi my name is Ayo, I am 22 years old and I would like to encourage you to help me raise money for a charity that supports those with sickle cell anaemia.

Sickle cell anaemia is a genetically inherited disease of the blood whereby the red blood cells, which are responsible for carrying oxygen around the body, are deformed and cannot perform their function effectively. This disease is so common, particularly amongst individuals of Afro-Caribbean decent.

I myself suffer from mild anaemia whereby the manifestation of this causes me to be very fatigue, weak and fragile at times. I am very fortunate to be in an environment where the equipment and medication required to sustain my energy is readily available to me. However there are people who have been diagnosed with severe sickle cell anaemia who are not as fortunate as me to be provided with the necessary treatment for their care.

I believe that as a community, it is important that we educate ourselves on the prevalence of such diseases and the effects they are having to so many around us. There are so many vulnerable people in several countries that are not equipped with adequate treatment methods which results in the worsening of their condition and drastically reduced quality of life.

Although I am aware that there are many conditions and diseases that need our attention, I have decided to focus on sickle cell anaemia because I have experienced first hand the effects of anaemia and my symptoms are barely significant compared to those who experienced the more severe manifestations.

Raising this money would go such a long way in the purchase of equipment and medications for countries in Africa and the Caribbean. The chosen charity that would fund the equipment would be able to supply the needs of those suffering with your help.

Please, show your support today.
Thank you
