Well, here it is - the Gentle Tarot pick-a-card reveal
I would like to mention at this point that I absolutely do not stage my readings, the cards/their placement or the arrangement of the items in the space in any way. I plan and arrange the space before I pick up the deck to start shuffling. This is a particularly strong example of the cards drawn relating to the items on the reading cloth - to be honest I was somewhat startled and amazed when I turned them all over...
Left:
Ace of Wands
Associated element: fire - creative energy/action/passion
Here we see a hand reaching out of the eternal and infinite source of creation which is the cosmos. It is grasping a sprig of wormwood - a potent medicinal wild plant. (Coincidentally placed next to my own sprigs of rosemary and sage - also very useful medical plants which I picked fresh from my kitchen/apothecary garden for the purpose of this reading.) Set against a colourful sunrise over tranquil waters, the message here is one of huge potential and fresh, new energy.
This card shows hugely potent, fresh, new energy which is all so deeply interconnected and inherent throughout the natural world. We too are part of nature, but it can be so very easy to become disconnected - either physically or mentally, indeed often both. There are so many wonderful gifts and resources offered which can nurture us and protect us throughout our lives. As with the herbs from my garden, we can offer them protection and nurture them also. A symbiotic relationship can offer us so much in return for our efforts - we can become more grounded, more mindful, healthier in body and spirit, we can feel more connected to the here and now and find hope for tomorrow.
We all contain our little spark of fiery energy- this is time to reconnect and utilise your passion, creativity and courage - nurture it and help it grow, you too shall grow with it.
Centre:
Seven of Cups
Associated element: water - emotions
Each of the seven cups here shows an important aspect of our lives and mindset that we must inevitably give our attention at some point or another in order to understand ourselves better and to heal us when needed. Notice how each of the cups contains the water which is essential for the objects' life. The clear black background is representative of our subconscious- the setting against which our focus on each cup takes place. See too how the face of the character on the card is lit by the flame - this part of the card is genuinely lit by my candle, as well as by the work of the artist.
The first cup contains the sprout of a new plant - showing the potential for great nutrition and physical health. The second has some teepee poles showing the need for a safe place to call home. The third one has a blob of negative thoughts which threaten the delicate balance of our mental health. Our unique truth is shown in the form of a flame. This is followed by the wisp of smoke which is the entwining of our imagination, potential and reality. The butterfly then shows self confidence, personal growth and self esteem. Finally, our material goals are shown as the golden egg.
The message here is clear: it is time to spend a while to establish your unique personal truths - your most valued and important principles for each of the cups' contents. Going forward, remain loyal to them/yourself in order to obtain/maintain a healthy holistic balance.
Right:
Harvest of Thunder
Associated element: Air - ideas, communication, morality
Just as the moose here has done, it is time to find yourself a quiet, calm, nurturing space where you can fully relax and quiet your mind. You need to be able to switch off from all the noise around you - be it social media, news, tv, your children, daily demands, work projects etc. None of these demands is inherently bad or necessarily negative - indeed they may be truly wonderful and utterly rewarding, but collectively, they are likely taking up your headspace and restricting your thoughts and the peace within.
By taking some time out, we allow ourselves to gather our thoughts and check our priorities within life, to do some organising of deadlines etc and thereby allowing us to have less clutter in our minds. This means that we then have more energy, a better relationship with the world around us, and more space for positive thoughts and fresh inspiration to surface. We can also find that taking some time out to nurture our minds leaves us feeling physically refreshed and re-engergised too.
Remember- you don't need a physical space to retreat to. It is very helpful to have an inner sanctuary to retreat to, even for a few moments, whenever we wish to. Now is the time to establish your tranquil refuge if you don't have one, make good use of it.
