6 weeks is a lot to fill, especially if the children want to know what's happening...all of the time!

👉 Our Now & Next board might be useful - it's used in our sessions to help children understand what's happening now, then what's happening after that, and next.
Not knowing can cause frustration – keep communicating, even the small things. It’s big in their world!

💡 You could even fill some time making your own - let the kids get creative!
⭐ Create days, and split them into mornings, afternoons or hours - whatever works for you.
⭐ Create some great pictures of your activities.
⭐ Use the board to plan your days together - it might show the adult working for a morning but your child getting to watch their favourite film or play in the garden.
⭐ Your child can move pictures to 'Now' when it is the right time, supporting engagement and keeping them updated on what’s going on.

We’re excited to be launching a brand new range of online training packages in time for the start of this school year.

We understand how hard it is for teachers and schools to support children with speech and communication difficulties, and where to find the right support tools. Our training packages offer great value for money, particularly as they will give you direct access to the team to cement what you have learned.

Each package will include access to a pre-recorded 30-60 minute tutorial video, with practical advice and tips, meaning you can watch at a time that is convenient to you. Plus, you’ll get a 15 minute slot to speak directly with a member of our team to answer any specific questions you have.

IS YOUR CHILD STARTING PRIMARY SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER?
Or maybe they have struggled with speech, language or communication in reception this year...

We have plenty of time before September to book an assessment and some summer sessions.

We can give you some great tips to practice at home to help them to be able to communicate with, and understand their teachers and peers.

One of our friendly therapists will meet with you and your child for either a full assessment or speech sound assessment - we'll advise which you need.

We'll start to identify what's needed in therapy, plus get to know your child to create sessions they will enjoy. We'll also give the grown-ups some useful tips for help at home.

What happens in speech therapy?

Well...
It's always fun, based around games and play.
It's not boring...
It doesn't feel like therapy...
The children don't even notice we're doing therapy...
We laugh a lot...
And smile...
And our speech therapists often lose a game of snap..or hungry hippos...!

It's a question we get asked a lot!
To get the best from the children, we need to make their time with us enjoyable and something to look forward to.
It's tailored to what they like, so we have fun and play!
We're busy playing specific games and using carefully chosen language to assess them and plan next steps - but to them, it just feels like play!

At some sessions, we are practising and progressing, whilst at others, we are assessing - the child doesn't know, they are just enjoying the games.

It is so important for the children we support to practise sounds and feel they are making progress with their speech and communication.

At Speech4Kids, we understand how difficult it can be for you to come up with new and exciting ways to help your child between therapy sessions; that's where we come in.

We've done the hard part - we've pulled together engaging games and reward charts that we see children enjoying every day, to create our Speech Sound Game Boxes. We've included all the bits you'll need, along with rewards, instructions and tips, to ensure your child gets the most out of playing. You can literally open up the box and start playing.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗼𝗻...

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new support tool from our team at Speech4Kids... for parents, grandparents, SENCOs, teachers, and TAs...

Our 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 - full of easy-to-use game based activities, each one covering a different speech sound difficulty, and you don’t need any specialist training to use them. We always struggled to find anything we could recommend for support outside of our therapy sessions, so... we've created our own, selecting activities we know children find fun and engaging.

There are 10 boxes, each covering the most common speech sound difficulties, and every box comes complete with everything you need, including fishing rods for a magnetic fishing game, a finger puppet, a mini post box, reward charts with stickers, instructions, and more! We have also created helpful video tips to make the games an invaluable tool for your child's development.

We see the most progress from children who practice between therapy sessions; repetition is vital for anyone trying to learn something new or difficult.
