Hello everyone, we are Florence and Ray. We are a young couple starting a new business. After working in two busy clinics in Kent, we decided to take on a new challenge, opening our own practice. We are very excited to introduce you to our ‘Back To Health Osteopathy” practice in Canterbury!
Our interest in osteopathy started from a young age as being both very active sports people. With unavoidable injuries we ended up at an osteopath who helped us greatly. This inspired us to become osteopaths ourselves.
We both graduated in 2018 and are registered with our governing body, the General Osteopathic Council.
What is osteopathy? What to expect.
Osteopathy is a type of complementary medicine that focuses on the whole body. An osteopath will look at your posture and the way you stand and walk, often your osteopath will have noticed this before you sit down. After a thorough case history, your osteopath will test the movements of your joints and palpate the muscles to feel any tension that could potentially give you problems. After the examination, your osteopath will discuss the findings with you and how he or she will be able to help you. The treatment consists of stretches, massage, articulation and manipulations to free up your body. Also, your osteopath will give you some advice that are made up of stretches, strengthening exercises, or little tricks that can help you with your pain.

Our advice
Don’t wait for your pain to get worse, let an osteopath have a look at you and help you with your pain. Osteopathy can help to prevent further health problems.
Difference between an osteopath, chiropractor and a physiotherapist.
A physiotherapist these days mainly gives you exercises to strengthen your muscles and stabilising your joints therefore it will decreases your pain.
Osteopathy and chiropractic came from the same philosophy but have diverted in different directions. A chiropractor will mainly focus on the spine and will mainly or only manipulate the spine to achieve relaxation of joints and muscles. While an osteopath will look at the body more in a holistic way, e.g. muscle tightness, leg discrepancy, flat feet, reduced range of movement in certain joints, posture,... This is the reason why we choose to be osteopaths!
Looking forwards to seeing you soon,
Florence & Ray
