To mark National Complementary Therapy week, we're sharing a recent article from one of our experienced neuro massage therapists Iuliana.

Complementary therapies are an important part of what we offer, supporting our members, as well as their carers and families, by helping to ease stress, reduce pain and improve overall wellbeing.

Day 2 - IASK Kinesiology Week.

In celebration of IASK Kinesiology Week, I’m sharing a moment that’s moved me - and offer a glimpse into our everyday profession with permission from a client.

Yesterday held one of those moments. I’d randomly met my morning client during a business event last week, and instinctively offered him a trial Kinesiology balance. He accepted my invitation to come and see what it involved.

I’m always grateful to be able to work with people like Martyn. People who know that the only way to break through the noise sometimes is to look inwards, so thank you for trusting me Martyn. It was a pleasure working with you - and thank you so much for your wonderful feedback ✨.

Day 1 - IASK Kinesiology Week.
Why did I train to become a Kinesiology Practitioner?

Hello! I’m Sara - a former NHS Performance and Healthcare Programme Manager turned Kinesiology and Reiki Practitioner. For Day 1 of the IASK Kinesiology Week to promote greater awareness of Kinesiology, here’s why I chose to re-train in this phenomenal complementary therapy.

In September 2023, I’d had Covid again after a particularly intense year working in the NHS, and remember feeling completely and emotionally drained. I’d spent so long pushing through long hours and late nights, pressure and the constant narrative around “efficiencies” that I hadn’t really noticed how much stress my body had been carrying. Palpitations were the norm for me, and had been for a few years.

Then things started to change more noticeably. After already being identified as having an autoimmune condition two years earlier, and feeling inwardly like a panicked rabbit in headlights during every Divisional meeting, I suddenly developed Raynauds syndrome. To say I was frustrated and confused, just wouldn’t do it justice.

On the outside I still appeared capable and driven. Underneath I was overwhelmed, constantly overthinking and had lost the sense of being supported by my own mind and body. They were trying to tell me something, but I had no idea what. All I did know, was that I had to start listening.

Read the carousel for what happened next!

✨ Have you ever had a moment where your body forced you to slow down and really listen to the bigger picture? Tell me what your experience was like… I know I’m not alone.

When you’re in that loop of feeling stuck, and you can’t figure out what will pull you out, you don’t have to accept the cards you’re dealt. More is possible.

Whether that’s physically, mentally, emotionally or energetically.

The body and mind work together to create a brilliant survival response to stress, trauma, overload, or emotional holding. Crucially protecting you from what it perceives as a threat. After all, our brain’s job entire job is to keep you from harm - and believe it or not it can limit your mobility and thought patterns when it senses something’s not safe for you (based on a previous experience). This, then sets our future subconscious patterns or limiting beliefs that govern how we respond in all future situations.

But it isn’t always helpful, when you feel strong in the gym and always tweak the same muscle, feel like something’s holding you back but you don’t know what, have had scans showing everything is normal but you’re still in pain or have a limited range of movement, have a big competition you need to perform well in and you keep suffering the same injuries, or have a presentation at work to excel in and you completely dry up in front of everyone.

Kinesiology helps reset the patterns that are keeping you stuck, so you can do what you value most.

Kinesiology isn’t just an alternative trend. It’s a biofeedback tool that helps decode what your body’s been trying to tell you, and identifies the solutions that will help resolve your issues, optimising how the whole of you performs.

Stride into the Year of the Fire Horse with vitality and passion 🔥🐎. This new cycle is centered around taking charge of your power with courage, boundaries and discernment.

Professional Kinesiology Practice (PKP Kinesiology) can help you move forward if you’re stuck or going round in circles.

Subtlely at first, but it can help build momentum to your feeling more vital and is the first step on your journey towards getting your mojo or head back in the game, naturally.

That’s where I come in, helping you release what’s stuck and what needs to be let go of before you can move forward.

PKP Kinesiology can

✅ reduce pain

✅ improve posture

✅ clear tension

✅ reactivate muscle function

✅ defuse emotional stress

✅ improve learning

✅ calm digestive issues

✅ accelerate sporting performance

✅ boost confidence

It provides a holistic approach to performance, health and wellbeing, combining gentle muscle monitoring with a blend of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and western techniques including,

🖐️ acupressure

🤩 neural pathway re-programming

🧠 brain integration

😌 visualisation

💪 muscle proprioception

🦵specific movements

🥗 modifications to diet & exercise

🍎 supplements and natural remedies

Once you set a goal or an outcome that you would like to work towards, I help identify the imbalances in the brain and body preventing you from achieving your desired goal, and find the issues it relates to.

These can be:

💪 physical

🤯 emotional

🥪nutritional/chemical, or

⛔️ energy excesses or deficiencies

The issues causing a problem often reside in all 4 realms; and once these are identified, we work together to enable you to achieve your goal using the corrections available.

Goals can be

❤️ emotional

🏃‍♂️ physical or

💷 financial and can also include

👩‍❤️‍👨 relationship dynamics.

Each session can last up to 90 minutes, depending on the type of balancing required, with a detailed case history taken at the first session.

Email me on sara@canterburykinesiology.com or call me on 07920 886226 if you’d like to talk it through, no pressure, just clarity. Or visit my website for more info.

Contemplating 2025 (in fact the past two years) and the year to come whilst finishing the final bits for our family Christmas instills me with nothing short of wonder. I’m so thankful for what I’ve learned during this wellness journey, for the support I’ve encountered and to you for being here.

2025 was a year to release what no longer serves us, shed that which holds us down and to look to our shadows to address where we must change in order to progress and move forward. Our perception is ultimately the key to our happiness. Choose wisely and embrace the freedom it gives.

Merry Christmas to you all. May the next few days be full of peace, joy and love and the next year be one of excitement, adventure and laughter.

See you in 2026! ✨
