Iatefl ESP SIG A global forum for ESP professionals

The ESP Special Interest Group is one of the 16 SIGs at IATEFL, and its main focus is on English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes and English for Occupational / professional Purposes. The main objective of IATEFL's SIG in EAP is to disseminate good practice in ESP (as well as EAP and EO/PP ) through its membership and to promote models of excellence in ESP to ELT professionals in UK and abroad through workshops, seminars and conferences and through publishing the output in our newsletter / journal and leading ELT journals and periodicals.

📣 Call for Expressions of Interest – Volunteer Editor-in-Chief

The IATEFL English for Specific Purposes Special Interest Group (ESPSIG) is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief for its biannual peer-reviewed journal Professional and Academic English.

This is an exciting moment to join the journal as it works toward indexing in major research databases.

About the role
As Editor-in-Chief, you will:
• Lead and grow scholarship in English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
• Build and manage a team of editors and peer reviewers
• Oversee the journal publication cycle and liaise with the publisher and ESPSIG committee
• Promote the journal and encourage submissions from global networks
• Help shape the journal’s future direction and strategy

đź•’ Term: 3 years (renewable once)
👥 Requirement: Must be an IATEFL member with ESPSIG membership before taking up the role.

We’re looking for someone with:
âś” Strong knowledge of ESP and postgraduate teaching experience
âś” Academic publishing experience (author/reviewer/editor)
âś” Leadership, teamwork and strategic planning skills
âś” Excellent editing, proofreading and communication skills
