Back again!!!!! Darren Graceland Jones is back at TY HAFOD this Thursday 11th July 2pm
But not as Elvis…………this time it’s 30 mins as Darren himself followed by 30 mins as the Welsh legend Sir TOM JONES

Well what a day.
I had the pleasure of going on a small outing (just as a helping) with the Jones’
Chris has not been out in over 18 months, this is mainly because of the size of his chair. Well after many postponed days, due to illness and the weather.
Friday we finally got out!!!!!! The taxi ride for Chris must have felt like being on a theme park ride, but he was just interested in what was outside. Chris went for a small walk (well pushed by me) whilst holding his wife’s hand along the canal. Then to the pub for some grub and for Chris (and us) to have a cheeky pint of cider that turned into a pint and a half!!
Very emotional day, but so glad we were able to make this happen for Debbie and Chris ###

On my morning one 2 ones with the residents, consisted of talks of the blitz, woodcarving, tanks, and how the girls used to to go dancing at the local club every Saturday. When it came to Dorothy she had another one of her marvellous quotes, so we thought we’d share with you all..

Absolute mayhem with our new game noodle volley!! Our new net kindly bought by Debbie and Chris jones.
Everyone enjoyed, some had given up by the time the video was taken!!! Next time we will lower the net and move all the chairs closer, but not bad for our first game ###

So we are looking at creating a day dedicated to wacky and wonderful science experiments using day to day items.

Today we trialed a “Lava lamp” and residents were shocked how easy it was, it was a trial to see if residents were interested, when we come to do the “experiments” the residents will add components themselves. 🧪

We also had a visit from a young man called Jack Chandrinos, who came with his guitar and sang some old school favourites, like Jonny cash, Elvis, and Neil Diamond. Everyone liked him especially Anita who sang and tapped her knee through every single song.
we are definitely going to see him again.

So yesterday, I brought in a huge box of drift wood which my kids and I have been collecting, and we decided to make a wind chime, so under strict supervision (as I was using a drill and wood carving knife) we set to work assembling together a simple wind chime.
Then under the watchful eye of Yvonne I placed it up in the tree in the court yard.

We also made a second wind chime with some of the left overs xx

Axe throwing!!!!

Exactly like it says!!!! Except they are made of foam! Whilst Dorothy enjoys a good book, Val, Marjorie, Roger and Arthur enjoyed throwing the axes towards the target held by Chris……….. or was it Chris they were aiming at?!? ###

So after a morning sing song, we uploaded Disney plus to the lounge TV and our morning movie was Snow White and the 7 Drawfs.

Well all the stories came out, of how they watched this film in the cinema as children. Some even remembered the names of the picture houses
The name of the Regal kept coming up!

Anyway watching this lot sing along to heigh ho absolutely made my morning and still 87 years after its first release they all said the wicked queen scared them!!
