🌟 Staff Spotlight: Louise 🌟

Meet Louise, one of our fantastic Deputy Manager here at Ty Hafod.

Louise has nearly a year with us and brings 16 years of care experience, including 10 years in care homes. Her patience, kindness and understanding make her a wonderful support to those living with dementia.

✨ “The best part of my job is knowing I make a difference every day — whether it’s playing someone’s favourite music or giving comfort when they need it most.”

Louise says families should know that care is about so much more than physical needs — it’s also about dignity, compassion and emotional support every day.

Her colleagues describe her as supportive, kind and happy 😊

Outside of work, Louise loves shopping… and prefers a hot chocolate with marshmallows over tea or coffee! ☕🍫

Fresh, bright, comfortable, and ready to be personalised to feel like home when a new resident moves in.

This is just one of the many positive changes happening across the home as we continue to invest in creating warm, welcoming spaces for everyone who lives with us.

♟️ When our residents speak, we listen! ♟️

At our last residents' meeting, Phyllis mentioned she'd love a chess board. So, we went out and got one straight away — because why wouldn't we? 😊

Not only is Phyllis enjoying every single game, she's also taken it upon herself to teach her friend Dorothy the game.

This is exactly what we're all about — making sure our residents' voices are truly heard, and that the little things (and the not-so-little things!) that bring them joy are never overlooked.

Happy residents make for a happy home, and moments like these remind us why we love what we do.

Phyllis spent time in the garden today, sharing how happy and at peace she feels — and it’s a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

In our home, every smile, every laugh, and every moment of joy is at the heart of everything.

Bunting up, candles lit, ABBA on full volume — and Babs right at the center of it all, singing every word and loving every second. 💃🎵

She reminded us today that she has always been the life of the party — and after all these years, we can see nothing has changed.

When we asked how old she feels? "22!" — without a moment's hesitation. 😄

Cake, candles, laughter, and a room full of people who think the world of her. What a lovely way to celebrate a truly special lady.

We were delighted to welcome the wonderful Hiroko for a calming Japanese Sound Bath session — and our residents had the most gorgeous time. 😊

Together they enjoyed gentle breathing exercises, soothing sound bath sounds, and a relaxing massage. Many of our lovely residents took part, and the room was filled with smiles and a wonderful sense of calm and peace.

💛 Dorothy summed it up perfectly:

"I feel lovely and relaxed and I really enjoyed it."

We couldn't agree more, Dorothy! 🥰

Hiroko visits us once a month for these special sessions. It's one of our most treasured regular activities and something many of our residents truly look forward to.

A huge thank you to Hiroko for bringing such joy and tranquillity to our home, and to our fabulous staff Roxy and Nat for making it all happen so beautifully.
