South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Free Home Fire Safety Checks

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service offer a free service where trained staff can visit your home to provide fire safety advice. They will assess any fire-related risks in your home, and install equipment, such as smoke detectors, to help alert you in the event of a fire.

The service is open to anyone. They are particularly keen to support older adults, people who have a disability, sensory impairment or mental health issues, and people who smoke. However, anyone who has concerns about their home fire safety is encouraged to get in touch to request a visit.

During the visit, the fire service can:

• Offer advice on preventing fires
• Consider health conditions that may increase fire risk, such as age-related issues or sensory impairments
• Install safety equipment like smoke detectors, heat detectors, and extension leads
• Provide advice on how to respond if a fire occurs
• Connect you to other services for support, such as property repairs or falls prevention
• Provide specialised smoke detectors for those with hearing impairments, including flashing lights and vibrating pads.

Winter viruses such as coughs and colds, are circulating in our communities.

Your local community pharmacy does so much more than prescriptions. They can give expert advice on a range of minor illnesses, and many can assess and treat common conditions, without needing to see a GP.

To find out what services your local community pharmacy offers, visit the Community Pharmacies page of our website.

Get seen by the right person, in the right place, first time. 💙
