4 Ways to Blow your Own Trumpet

(Without looking like a drum)

1. Stay honest: Exaggerating or lying about your abilities can quickly turn people off and damage your credibility.

Instead, focus on the things you're genuinely good at and highlight them in a truthful and authentic way.

2. Use stories: One of the best ways to promote yourself without appearing arrogant is to use stories. Share anecdotes and experiences that illustrate your skills and accomplishments in a relatable way.

3. Come up for air: If you find yourself talking about yourself too much, take a step back and give others a chance to speak- look for the two-way conversation, don't just dominate it.

4. Lend others the limelight: it's important to recognise and acknowledge the contributions of others - the colleagues, partners, and mentors who have helped you get to where you are now. When you give others the limelight, you demonstrate your humility and gratitude.
