Yesterday, the residents came together to remember the 81st anniversary of VE Day. The dining room was beautifully decorated with Union Jack bunting and flags, while the residents proudly wore Union Jack bowler hats to mark the occasion.

Shanelle also read out a touching VE Day poem in remembrance, helping everyone reflect on the significance of the day and honour those who served.

For Deaf Awareness Week this morning, some of our residents enjoyed learning the BSL alphabet along with how to sign hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills, raise awareness and have lots of fun together. 🤟

This afternoon, as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, a few residents took part in thoughtful conversations around dying, death and bereavement. Together we discussed some of the fears people may have and shared feelings and experiences around losing loved ones. These meaningful conversations helped create comfort, understanding and support for one another. 💙

It’s been lovely to see volunteers spending time with our residents and helping facilitate activities this week. From a fun game of Higher or Lower to Ring Toss, there have been plenty of smiles, laughter, and meaningful moments shared by everyone involved. 💙

We are currently looking for volunteers aged 18+ who can spare a couple of hours (or more) during weekdays 11am 4pm to chat with residents or take part in engaging activities. Even a little bit of your time can make a big difference to someone’s day.


We’re also excited to be hosting our Music Festival Week from Monday 22nd June to Saturday 27th June 🎶
If you can sing, play an instrument, or would simply love to help bring music and joy to our residents, we would be delighted to hear from you.

What a wonderful musical experience for our residents today! 🎶✨

We were treated to the fantastic sounds of A-Z Retro, with one singer playing the guitar and the other on the keyboard. Their performance brought so much joy and energy to the room.

Residents had the opportunity to join in too, with percussion instruments handed out for anyone who wanted to play along, as well as sing to some well-loved tunes. 🎤🥁

It was lovely to see some residents gently swaying along to the music, really feeling the rhythm and enjoying the moment. A truly uplifting session filled with smiles and music! 💛

What a fantastic start to the morning! 💃✨

I had 5 lovely ladies join me for some chair line dancing, and the energy was just amazing. We danced along to Cotton Eye Joe, 9 to 5, and Islands in the Stream—smiles all around! 😊

The scarves added such a fun and creative touch to the routines, and everyone really got into the spirit of it. It’s always so rewarding to see everyone moving, laughing, and enjoying themselves together.

Today is International Firefighters’ Day.

This morning, some of our residents at Morel Court took part in activities focused on fire safety, helping to remind everyone what to do in the event of a fire.

They also enjoyed taking photos with a special thank-you card to show their appreciation and recognition for our amazing firefighters and the incredible work they do to keep our communities safe. 🚒

A lovely afternoon out, where Dawn and Lesley, who took Alison and Marge to the Pavilion today, to explore the Makers Market. So many incredibly talented people showcasing their beautiful handmade crafts – truly inspiring! ✨

A very special moment today as we celebrated Roy’s birthday! 🎂🎶

Some staff gathered in his room to surprise him with a delicious homemade cake, freshly prepared by our talented cook. We sang Happy Birthday together, filling the room with smiles, laughter, and a lovely sense of celebration.

Today we celebrated International Dance Day with lots of energy and some smiles! 💃🕺

Residents on the first floor enjoyed a fun and engaging chair line dancing session, getting into the rhythm together, while others took part in a relaxing and expressive yoga dance session in the lounge.

It was wonderful to see everyone moving, laughing, and enjoying the joy that dance brings. A fantastic day all around!
