⚠️ Meningitis update ⚠️

We understand that many people are feeling concerned about the recent meningitis cases in England. While the risk to the general public remains low, it’s important to be aware of the symptoms and seek medical advice quickly if you’re worried.

Symptoms to look out for include:
▪️Fever
▪️Severe headaches
▪️Neck stiffness
▪️Sensitivity to light
▪️Nausea or vomiting
▪️A rash that doesn’t fade when pressed
▪️Cold hands, feet, drowsiness or confusion

These symptoms can appear in any order, and not everyone gets all of them.

Vaccination reminder - Anyone who has missed their MenACWY vaccine can still receive it up to the age of 25. Please contact the surgery to book an appointment with our practice nurse.
If you are not eligible for the vaccine on the NHS, it is also available privately.

If you are unsure about your vaccination status please contact the surgery.

Did you know you can text a school nurse for confidential advice about your child?

Parentline is a text message service for parents and carers of children aged 5–16 (including home-educated children).

Text a school nurse on 07312 263178 to get support with a range of issues, from emotional wellbeing and healthy eating to behaviour and relationships.

Messages are monitored Monday–Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm and the team aim to reply within one working day.

If you have a urinary tract infection (also known as a UTI, Cystitis, a water infection) your local community pharmacy can help under the NHS Common Ailments Service.

If you’re female, aged 16 to 64 and think you have a UTI, a pharmacist can assess you and may be able to offer treatment.

The pharmacist will see you in a private room, assess your symptoms and provide antibiotics if they’re needed.

You don’t always need an appointment, but it’s best to call ahead to check a pharmacist is available.

From this month, the NHS is expanding the shingles vaccination programme.

Adults aged 18+ who have a very weak immune system are now eligible for the shingles vaccine.

You don’t need to wait for an invitation — you can book at your GP practice.
