‘Dr Howells said his own private patient numbers had grown but many were afraid about how they could be judged for using cannabis.

"Concerns about being stopped [by police] or what they should tell an employer are some of the largest concerns of patients coming to our clinic," he said.

Dr Howells said clinic staff had needed to intervene on a patient's behalf with employers, housing associations, family courts and police - describing understanding of the law around medical cannabis as a "postcode lottery".’

About 50,000 people in the UK have a medical cannabis prescription, but some still feel a stigma attached to it.

By raising awareness and telling my story, I hope it brings acceptance and curiosity across the board.

If you know someone who is chronically unwell and navigating health struggles on a daily basis, on top of their pain, discomfort and anguish, they may feel guilt and shame for being a burden to their loved ones and wider community.

All we want is wellness. To live our lives in the best way we can.

I found that with cannabis. Without it, I would be living a fraction of the life I do now.

Find out more today. Contact our clinic. Join a patient group. DM us.

Wishing you all good health & happiness,
Sam

I’m so overwhelming proud to be nominated for the Cannabis Industry Council awards for Best Customer Service at Cannabis Clinic Cardiff.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate me and my team…..here’s what one lovely patient of ours submitted.

Sam Ashton : "Their integrity and genuine care for the well-being of their patients shine through their day-to-day interactions with patients, and it is a genuine pleasure to have a clinic under the leadership of such an insightful patient, whose motivation to support patients extends far beyond their job."

Keep an eye on our socials after November 6th, the winners will be announced and we can't wait to celebrate!

Proud Parent Moment - Proud Clinic Moment

We’re bursting with pride to share some amazing news about our daughter, Ariana Howells - a bright, passionate, and driven young woman who's making waves in both academia and medical research.

This summer Ari turned 18, at 17 years old she earned three A*s and an A in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and English Lit - plus an incredible 97% on her Extended Project Qualification, where she researched the effects of THC on sleep architecture. Her interest in plant medication has highlighted the drug's promise, as well as gaps in existing research. "There were only seven studies worth citing," Ariana said.

Her deep dive into medical plants isn't just academic, it's personal.

Inspired by mum / Sam's experience with Crohn’s and the transformative role plant medicine has played, Ariana’s work is part of our bigger family mission to improve lives through education and access to medical plants!

"Seeing my mum's condition and the way this medication has helped her and our clinic’s patients really opened my eyes to its medical potential," she's said.
"My dad is also a senior psychiatrist, so I've grown up in a household where science and care come together."

We're especially thrilled to announce that Ariana will be heading to Oxford University this autumn to study Biochemistry at St Hilda’s College!

Her goal? To help shape the future of drug development and mental health care, with plant medication research close to her heart.

Ariana said "science is about asking difficult questions and being open to where the evidence leads.”

As if that wasn’t enough, she’s also a gold medalist in the Biology Olympiad, a semi-finalist in the International Biology Bowl, and a dedicated competitive ice skater.

We couldn’t be more proud of the young woman she’s becoming, blending science, compassion, and determination every step of the way.

Well Done Ari!

More and more women are turning to plant medicine for relief.
Whether it’s managing anxiety or depression, insomnia or the daily weight of stress, women are increasingly exploring medical plants as an option.

For too long, stigma has stood in the way of open, honest conversations about our health - especially when it comes to mental wellbeing.
Choosing to care for your mental and physical health isn’t something to hide or feel ashamed of.

It’s something to celebrate.

Plant medication isn’t a trend, it’s an option that’s helping women take back control of their lives.

Plant-based medicine and the LGBTQ+ community share a profound connection built on support, healing, and the fight against stigma.

Prioritising your wellness and embracing your path toward improved mental and physical health is a vital aspect of self-love, and plant-based medication can provide a natural option to enhance your life journey.

For some individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, plant-based medicine can be a sanctuary, offering potential relief from stress and enhancing mental well-being.

Choosing a plant-based option can be a deeply personal decision that resonates with your individual journey, especially when it comes to managing your mental health.

Let’s celebrate our diversity, dismantle barriers, uplift each other, honour individuality, and cherish the freedom to select what resonates best with YOU!
