Re-Live invites you to The Creative Age, a unique online performance by older people from around the world, celebrating the UN’s International Day of Older Persons on Tuesday, 1st October 2024. Book your free ticket here! bit.ly/3Bb3TgY

Event: The Creative Age
Platform: Live on Zoom
Date & Time: Tuesday, 1st October, 4 PM (BST)

Performance time in your local time zone: https://bit.ly/4etlP4J

What to Expect:

The Creative Age showcases the rich diversity of older people’s experiences, celebrating different cultures and communities through spoken word, singing, therapeutic clowning, and dance. Featuring participants from Wales, Brazil, New York, South Africa, Lithuania, and more, this performance celebrates the lived experiences of older people worldwide. The event is accessible with live transcription in over 30 languages.

Performances include:

Wales: Re-Live’s Company of Elders will perform life stories that capture the enduring power of the human spirit through the lens of childhood dreams, the strength of community bonds, and the rediscovery of freedom in later years.

Brazil: Older adults living with aphasia will perform therapeutic clowning, using humour and non-verbal expression to highlight the power of communication and emotional wellbeing, led by Dr. Lenisa Brandão from Porto Alegre.

New York: Older people from 14 nationalities will perform a dance that celebrates inclusivity and belonging, reflecting the diversity of the Queens Center for Gay Seniors. The piece is co-created with Magda Kaczmarska and Hilary Brown-Istrefi.

South Africa: The Abahlali Base Freedom Park Elders Soup Kitchen group will perform songs that celebrate the strength of intergenerational bonds and community connections.

Join the Conversation:

Following the performance, you are welcome to join us for a discussion with the participants, where you can share your thoughts and reflect on the role of the arts in creative ageing and community wellbeing.

Spread the Word:

We’d love your support in sharing The Creative Age with your network – colleagues, friends, family, and older people you work alongside or support.

We invite you to join us on October 1st to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons and the right to be creative at any age. This performance places older people centre stage, encouraging us to imagine a future together, not apart. Don’t miss this special event that transcends borders – it’s sure to move, and inspire you, wherever you are in the world.

With love, the Re-Live team x
