Alexandria brings a wealth of experience in marketing, communications, and community engagement, and will be playing a key role in strengthening how we share the amazing work our carers and teams do every day. Her creativity and strategic insight will help us highlight the compassionate care we deliver, build stronger community connections, and showcase the stories that make Heritage Healthcare Cardiff and Swansea so special.

My journey in care began with a deep desire to help people from the heart. It was the fruition of a dream I had since childhood. Starting as a care assistant, I had a deep desire to provide compassionate, person-centered support to those in need. Over two years, I developed understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of the elderly and vulnerable people with dementia.
The support, knowledge, experience, and training I received from my beloved management team and my colleagues were of great help in fulfilling all my responsibilities and moving forward. Through continuous learning, practical experience and dedication, I gradually took on more responsibilities. Over time, I gained the trust of service user's and colleagues, which led me to progress to the role of Senior Carer.
However, my journey as a Senior Carer has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. But today I am very happy and I am working to overcome those challenges and move forward. I will always have the support of my director, management team, and colleagues.

My Journey from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant -

When I first started as a Care Assistant, I wasn’t completely sure what to expect. All I knew was that I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. The early days were full of learning — from supporting residents with daily tasks to understanding how small acts of kindness could brighten someone’s whole day.

At times, the work was challenging. Long shifts, emotional moments, and the responsibility of caring for others tested my strength. But with every challenge came growth. I learned patience, resilience, and the true meaning of compassion.

What pushed me forward was my passion to do more — not just for the residents, but for my colleagues too. I started taking on extra shifts & responsibilities, mentoring myself, and supporting the team whenever I could. Little by little, I grew in confidence and skill.

Becoming a Senior Care Assistant wasn’t just a promotion; it was a milestone. It represented hard work, dedication, and the belief that growth comes from consistency and heart. Today, I feel proud not only to provide care but also to guide and support others in the role I once began in.

This journey taught me that no role is “just a job.” Every step matters, and every act of care has the power to change lives. 🙏🏻

As part of our ongoing commitment to staff well-being, providing excellent service and to celebrate our CIW Excellent scoring inspection reports we organised a team-building exercise that brought together carers, coordinators, and managers in an environment outside of our usual workplace.
The aim was not only to enjoy time together, but to strengthen trust, communication, and teamwork – qualities that directly enhance the quality of the care we deliver to individuals every day.

We absolutely love seeing our carers children and this week we have had the pleasure of meeting Nancy's daughter Vaibhavi who brought Jenna our Care Manager and Emily our care coordinator some flowers in.
