You don't have to wait until someone dies to start grieving.
The release of Goodbye June has brought attention to something many people recognise, even if they've never had a word for it β anticipatory grief. The feelings that show up when someone you love is seriously ill and you're living with the waiting.
The film captures what that can feel like for families. Life carrying on alongside hospital visits. Ordinary moments sitting next to worry and uncertainty. Nothing dramatic, just the reality of being in that in-between space.
Toward the end of the film, there's a shift toward what gets said and what's harder to say aloud. The final narration takes the form of a letter, holding thoughts and feelings that don't always come easy in conversation.
