Duffryn ffrwd residential and nursing home had a visit from Llantrisant folk group and their Mari Lwyd this afternoon to welcome in the Welsh new year. This year they hand been raising money for Holme Towers Hospice in Penarth.

This month we have been celebrating Black history month. 2 of our lovely staff members from the nursing home dressed in their finest and had lovely sessions with residents from both homes. They described their clothes, we learnt about how the fabric is woven, we watched them dance to traditional music, tried some delicious home made treats and learnt about Nigerian independence that happened 65 years ago. How lucky we are to have staff who take time out of their day to day job to teach us about their own culture! Thank you girls!

Our "Knitting Nanas" have been making pumpkins and we are selling then on our little seasonal stall. Please feel free to take your pick from our mini pumpkin patch. There will be an honesty box for the money but you can also buy them from michelle in the residential home during her working hours.
